So a couple of days ago I was talking to my friend Dhani and looking up Mescaleros lyrics on the Internet. I was reading over Get Down Moses and I was just overcome with this emotion of seeing his genius. Seriously, it is large. Reading over them, I think I really finally realized a lot of what he was about, with just lines or word phrases, and finally really, truely appreciate him in all ways. (Not that I didn't appreciate him, just now it's bigger.) He was incredibly gifted and intelligent, it's insane. Some of my favorite lines are "they say the truth crystallizes like jewels in the rock, in the rock" & "they say the stars can't see their rays, nor can they count their numbered days". It's just really great imagery and I thought I should share. It has had a profound impact on me, which is good I suppose. I feel like the lyrics he wrote were just brillant and when he was working with they Mescaleros, I think he found that right level where he could fully say what was on his mind, without misinterpretation, but still leave it up to the listeners to get something out of it.
