Just write it out, as if your writing a poem and when its done, read it through picking up a flow. Once you got the flow, try singing it out loud, see what fits, what should be a chorus, bridge, etc. Add bits in or take stuff out to make it fit and voila.
Thats how i do it anyway |

Thats what i do as well, i think it helps to have something to write about as well. Find something to write about, like an event or a person, and then the lyrics shold just flow out, it doesn't neccasarily have to be like a poem, it can also be like a story or a load of feelings on paper |

Age: - Gender: Female Posts: 5246 | October 24th, 2005 at 11:10pm i just write...well i dunno, an idea usually comes to me first, like almost like a topic, and i can write with it. it just flows i guess, i'm not much of a songwriter but my singer (who writes most lyrics) seem to like them. i try to rhyme too much, that's not a smart idea, cuz then there are too many cliches. |

PinheadGunpowder Shoot Me, I'm A Newbie
 Age: - Gender: - Posts: 56 | November 1st, 2005 at 08:20pm Well I'm not a singer, I'm a pure guitarist, so I write a song like this:
First of all, I try to get an idea of what the song is gonna be about. If it's a love song, I'll use a real poppy tune, if it's angry I'll use alot of half steps (IE. the guitar line from "Take Back" by Green Day), and if it's just a song about doing absolutley nothing, a social observation, or anything else, I'll use and upbeat tune using sequences like A, G, D. THEN I write the lyrics, already knowing the tune.
My friends say that's the hardest way to do it, but it works for me. |

Thats how i do it anyway i can never do that. i hate doing it that way. we get a basic idea of words and fit the way of the music to it, its kinda interesting really |
