in the french case, it was to do with safety and such, they also thought that soem groups would be prejudice towards others and that by allowing objects that make you stand out, it might of cuased segregation between the different religious groups.

One of the main reasons that British schools have uniform, is because it decreases bullying.

i have an increasing hatred of political correctness. It all started last year when i found out you can't have a christmas tree in school anymore because it's insensitive to other religions, i go to a catholic school 99.9 percent of the school were angry because we couldn't have one.

Poltical correctness is very one sided in England, the government feel they need to protect the religion and races outside of the 'norm' of england (Judaism, hindu) Yet they neglect the discrimination that many christians face.

I was once visiting my cousin in San Francisco, when a black man called her a white bitch for bumping passed him accidently, when my cousin told him that he was being racist, he meerly shrugged and said it wasn't because he's not white. Unfortunately that is a common misconception that many politicians and civilians share.

you cant have christmas trees?? we always have one!! I LOVE IT, it really brightens up the place.

my prediction for this is, first it's the little things such as coffee and trees, next thing you know you won't be able to where a cross around your next because it could be insensitive to other religions.

Yeah, but I bet you ANY money they'll still be allowed to wear turbans and so on!

i forget the name but a school in france banned ALL religious objects from school, because they thought it might cause discimination, i agree with this because it's not one group being discriminated against, but a girl refused to not where her,gah i do not the exact word but it's like a head scarf, anyway she wouldn't go to school, yet christains weren't allowed to where crosses, jewish students weren't allowed to where their hate thingy's (i'm really shit when comes to remembering religious clothing), so she sued the school and won.

O_____o
That's awful!

The good thing about Wiccan is that not many people know that the pentagram is our symbol. Everyone just thinks it's a random pretty thing, so if that had a religious cramp down at my school, I'd be okay Very Happy

Yeah it's a legitimate religion. What do you want to know about it? I can give you some good links if you want?

In one of my college classes one guy screamed out "Jews should all fucking die!" There were 2 people in the class that are of Jewish descent - me and my friend Kari. Concidering that the guy was African-American, you know what we could have said in reply, but we didn't. Nobody did, thank God. There was just a fight about him not having a right to say that.
I'm not saying this as an argument, I just thought it was kinda interesting.

The reason why majorities suffer lately from too much political correctness, is simply that the minorities have been discriminated for so long, that now it's sort of the time for a payback.
As for affermative action...well...In one college they had a plan to get 10 White and 10 non-White students to enter the college on the basis of the entrance test. So it happened, but there were 2 White kids that had better results of the test than the African-Americans that were accepted into college. So, they sued the college for descimination on the basis of skin color, and of course, won.
But, of course, that's what conciders law. In everyday life, more and more often we go too far with political correctness. In ideal, we should all respect each other, but how often is anything ideal?

Apperantly people like learning about other religions, you go to school to learn. So why take away student's chances to learn? Kids should be taught not to discriminate against other religions instead of schools avoiding the topic altogether. There is no right or wrong answer when it comes down to religion, it's all about what you or your family chooses to belive in. School is supposed to prepare you for the future, well in the future people WILL go to work wearing crosses and wearing that star of David thing, if you've never encountered these things how will you know how to react, how to see a person, knowing their religion. Kids should know that although your religious beliefs are a lifestyle, they do not always affect how you act, and they should know that just because you found out what religion they are from doesn't mean they will change in any way. I'm not implying that schools should add biblical studies to their curriculum.. just that, as with race, they should learn not to discriminate based on religion. They should also be taught that discrimination works both ways, not just whites against blacks or christians against muslims. we should already know this because we have.. or had more freedom. Right now, they are in the proccess of taking it away, what little we had left... so our children would not get the proper teachings about religion to live semi-comfortable lives. Religion plays a big role in people's lives.. school takes up 6-8 hours of your day.. does this mean we cannot worship whom we wish during these 6-8 hours?

Hey, sorry I took so long to reply, my mum made me get off the computer last night Rolling Eyes lol.

Anyway.

The great thing about Wicca is that there's three main rules [1st: Wiccan Rede - An' Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will, which means do what you want as long you harm nothing or no one, 2nd: You cannot affect anyone's free will and 3rd: religious tolerance] but apart from them you sort of...base you own version of it around that. People normally do this by starting their own Book Of Shadows. You get given the basics obviously [like reincarnation] and from them you just work out what you yourself think and believe. We do have our own festivals, only ours are called Samhain [Halloween] which is also our New Year, Yule [Christmas, but ours is on the 21st normally] etc etc. We have 8 main festivals a year. We also do special rituals on the full moon. If we want new beginning however, we do them on the new moon. A lot of people think that Wicca is just about magick and so on. It isn't. Sure we do spellwork and the like. I've recently started learning the Tarot...so it's all good!

If you wanna know anything else, just ask Wink

Yeah [and it's magick by the way Very Happy], but it's not just waving a wand and mumbling a few words. It takes a lot of effort and thought, dedication, and you need to be totally focussed. You can only use magick if it harms nothing or no one. People say magick is like a really supernatural thing. But all it really is, is manipulating the Earth's energies to create a greater good.

Magic is a commercialised form [you know, tricks of the light and such].
And no you don't.
