How to read Guitar tabs.
DRUMS BIATCHES. (Cheers to Ahhhh! for this. =D)
Cym=cymbal(not specific)
C= crash (followed by # equals another crash,
if the drummer has 2 crashes, #2 would be the lower/deeper sound)
R= Ride (same number deely)
CC or Ch= China cymbal
Sp= splash
HH= Hi-hat
HHF, or HF, or F= hihat foot pedal (may be seen in hihat line, or may be seperate line)
CB= Cowbell
BR= bell ride (not the bell of a ride, an actual cymbal that is all bell)
S=snare
T=tom(same #dealy as cymbals)
FT= Floor tom, seperat from the other toms)
B= Bass (#s dont HAVE to mean pitch, as double bass is normally just for speed,
but if their is two tones #2 will be deepest)
ON THE LINES-
cymbals-
x= hit
b= bell of whichever cymbal
capital "X"= accented hit (harder)
f=hihat foot pedal (may be seen in hihat line, or may be seperate line)
drums-
o=hit
capital "O"= accented
r= rimshot
b= buzz-roll
Oo= flam (two hits at almost the same time, first hit is harder than last)
BASIC BEATS- ignore the dots before some of the letters, they are just to keep it aligned.
8th notes on cymbals and hihats

^ very common rock/pop beats usually repeated without the crash a few times

^very common Metal beat: starts on and (n) because it's easiest to start on your right foot, and play your cymbals with your left. Every second cymbal hit has a snare hit.
Common rolls: you should always try to keep the beat going with your feet...

All the fun stuff - measures, 4/4's, treble cleffs, diminuendos and crescendos...
I was thinking, maybe someone could post something about reading bass tabs. I thought it might be helpfull.  |

Haha, yeah, I know. But the tabs seem to look different. And in the self-teaching pages for tabs they always say "this is for guitar, for bass you'll have to go elsewhere". I might be wrong, I don't know. I've been told yesterday that I should try playing bass, so I thought what the hell. Back to zero. |

oh they only say that cuz bass has a different part in the song than guitar. reading the tabs is the same thing but the numbers and where they are will be diffeernt for songs. like this:

-3-3-- for guitar

-3-3-- for bass
the numbers still mean which fret and where the numbers are still mean which string they are on, but just different by how they look. the guitar plays the G chord above but the bass plays G root note. |
