I'm all for it. But there should be a bit more choice in the venue because isn't it that you're not allowed to marry in a church?
Why should a chuch have to compromose it's believes for you? You shouldnt be able to marry in a Chuch if they don't want you too. If the Chuch supports Gay Marriage, that's fine. If they don't, then you have absolutely no right to interfer with thay religion, and no one said you have to get married in a Church.

When most marriages end in divorce these days why are people so against it when someone does fall in love and wants to express that love?

i think if someone wants to be someoone for the rest of their live [or until further notice] then we should let them be, regardless of their gender, or religion or colour.

"homosexual marriage" is such a tricky topic because you only have extremists on the issueyou have, "I hate Christians, they are evil, gays should marry"
then you have, "I hate hippies, gays are evil, gays should burn in hell (unmarried"
i approve of gay marrage and im not an "extremist" I do not hate anyone, i dont not agree with religions but that does not make me an extremist. i dont go aroudn yelling "fuck jehova, fuck jesus.." nor do i go around saying "gay people should have full rights and be able to gt married in a church." obviously they cant unless that church is not bias agaianst homosexuals
you didn't address the issue
and the Church is not biased
it goes by the Bible
so what's your opinion?
they should be able to hold a marriage ceremony?

i think gay couples should have the same rights as straight couples. i mean after all we are all humans right?
They look the same, they act the same, they are exactly the same as heterosexuals, in every respect bar one. Yet they are still treated differently.
Of course they should have the right to adopt children, to be married, to do everything a heterosexual couple can do.
Exactly.

I concur extremely, m'dear.
"When 50 percent of Americans end up divorced, why do they get so mad when two people fall in love?"
-druscilla_way, aka me
I love that quote, i just had to use it =)

being human is a weak argument....
anyway, they get the same rights
they want their lover to have complete control if they go into a vegatative state?
call up your lawyer
you want them to have all of your stuff when they die?
call up your lawyer
you want the insurance benefits from work to cover everyone in the house?
call up your lawyer
they get those rights, but instead of it being automatic, you have to ask your lawyer
but they should be automatic anyway, it should come as a package

Hmm, but lawyers are very expensive, and not everybody has one (at least not here. Nobody I know has a lawyer). 'Marriage' or 'union' or whatever the christians want me to call it (I have no idea, its just a word right?. either way, you're still legally bonded) isn't just about the rights or the law. Its about the feeling you get when you know you're going to spend the rest of your life with a person you love. Its about making that statement to the world. Its about showing that committment.

and you can show that without the religious side of marriage
most Christians say they shouldn't have any rights regarding marraige, I just want to retain the religious side which they don't need
now, follow me on this
do you think we should upset a lot of people by leaving it the same?
should we upset a lot of people by changing it?
should we make the legal side of it hassle-free, let it all come in a package, and declare the commitment without calling it, "marriage"?
I think there is a lot of changing that has to go on here, but I think this whole thing needs to be redone
marriage shouldn't come with the legal union benefits, and gays shouldn't be denied those
I agree, using a lawyer is a hassle, which is why I think the government needs to make changes regarding how the benefits are distributed

That makes sense. All of it.
So you're saying we change the system, in a way which gives heterosexual and homosexual couples the same rights, but doesn't call it a 'marriage' in any case?. Seems fair.

Married persons tax allowance is just another excuse for me to say not letting gays marry is discrimination.
If you're not married, we can call it a 'union', like none of the RE teachers at my school actually let you call it gay 'marriage', we have to call it a 'union'.

pretty much yeah
the system is messed up, when athiests marry or when anyone marries and their religion doesn't believe in it....it shouldn't be marriage, it should be a union
but we founded the system on the religion, that the rest was tagged on later and we need to redo the whole damn thing
