The NME are notorious for not giving a crap about the truth and just being a gossip magazine for music. They like only what is deemed 'cool' and if you don't like what they like then you don't count.
I read the nterview after seeing the front cover and it is utter bollocks. Muse just said they were throwing ideas around and that was one of the possibilities, but to sell copies, they took that tiny little quote saying "We're just releasing singles and best-ofs" and used it on the cover. Also in the interview they said that they new stuff is coming along nicely and that Bellamy wants to go "all out prog with more dance influences on the NEXT ALBUM" with a "15 minute space rock instrumental" as we already knew. The enemy NME decided to ignore this part, though.
The NME are utter utter utter cunts and you shouldn't be using them for music news or reviews whatsoever. |

Muse
Newton Abbot Demo
1996/1997
An untitled demo cassette featuring 11 tracks that Muse recorded at Coombeshead Studios in Newton Abbot between November 1996 and January 1997. The only song released from these sessions was "Balloonatic", on the 1997 compilation Helping You Back to Work Vol 1.
Samples of the demo tape were shared on Muse fan sites on December 8th 2007 and 24th February 2008.
The tape was put up for auction on the 28th of February. A cross-website campaign by members of the Official Muse forum, Muselive.com, MuseWiki and MuseMessenger, spearheaded and bid for by informally elected trustee SpaceDemented, was set up prior to the auction's start. The campaign raised ~£2,500, of which only £740 was needed to win the auction. Digital copies are expected shortly.
The bid itself hovered at £410 in the days prior the the bid and £680 on the last day. In the final thirty seconds, it increased by the final £60. The bid ended at 23 minutes to midnight on the 5th of March. A total of 34 bids were made during the auction.
After much delay the tape was sent to Paul Nicholson. The tape was played through a Tascam 302 cassette deck wired upto an Apple Mac G3 Power PC and recorded into 24-bit AIF files. The files were then written to a 700mb CD-R data disc.
The tape was then sent to Niall.
Once recieved by Niall it was agreed to be sold to FireSka for £740, Niall then posted the tape to him.

 | May 13th, 2008 at 10:38pm Yeah, in fact none of the songs I downloaded from that link are listed there lol. Half of them are on Hullabaloo anyway.
Its just some really random shit like Piano Thing. There's a song called Execution Commentary too which is just fucking heavy. I can't get that found pounding riff out of my head. Great song. |
