But if I ever do improvisation.. I end up making it sound all sad and gloomy o__O indeed. minor keys rock muchly. Aww maaan, you guys need to check out some Blues scales!! Just try messing about for a while on the piano, with your left hand doing your average 12 bar blues type thing, in you right hand just mess around with different blues scales, C is always a good one to do [C, Eflat, F, F#, G, Bflat, C] Check out Glenn Miller's stuff, it's pretty awesome. I wonder what happened to his plane We're playing a Glenn Miller song at the moment in this Swing Band I'm in.

I wouldnt give it up though, I need the theory knowledge to do other stuff, such as learn songs by ear, transpose music onto my clarinet and so on.
