Anyways...
As a side note, they finally are making a movie; the first one is set to be released January 2007.
I'm going to be laughing when the Church has a field day over it...
It can most likely be contrasted to Narnia, since Narnia is often compared to Christianity, whereas HDM is almost...against Christianity, in a twisted sort of way. (Though Phillip Pullman actually wrote essays showing distaste towards the Narnia Chronicles...)
It's a fantasy book, with 3 books: Golden Compass, Subtle Knife, and Amber Spyglass. You really need to read them all, otherwise you'll confuse yourself.
It includes anything from Daemons, Angels, Armored Bears, to different dimensions...I can't even begin to explain it. =] And I warn you, if you're really sensitive you're going to cry after the 3rd book...It's amazing but terribly sad.
Hope you read it. Or I'll shoot you o_o lmao. |
The Artist Must Be True Idiot
Age: 39 Gender: Female Posts: 748 | May 24th, 2006 at 10:34am I've read them, and they are great! Lyra is an amazing heroine!
The first one is called 'Northern Lights' over here in the UK (all rather confusing that they changed the name in the US ).....oh and I wish I had a daemon
It was ages ago since I did read them, but I will re-read in the future. I still think Phillip Pullman's Sally Lockheart books are better - check em out if you haven't already! |

Yeah it is fantasy.....if there are things like daemons, angels, different dimesions, bears that can talk etc in it.....then I would imagine so
Basically it is! |

But I have four of his other books, and he is a fantastic writer. |

I've only read one of his other books, I thought it was awful, His Dark Materials light years better, even if it is that "fantasy land" thing. |
