spray of medication to keep her lungs from fading.
Her sweetheart; a telescopic angel bathed in soft
leather and aged baseball boots. Together, they're
a literary disaster of eyeliner metaphors and
teenage valentines, padded delicately against
pillow soft lips. Blissful kisses soothed to
sleep with oxygen and fragile touch.
It's a love story proclaimed in fingernail patterns
along steamed windows; breathe in, breathe out.
You can't bathe young love in innocence, until they
can write maturity along side precious lists of
qualifications. They'll paint their own path, not
taken from textbooks or scrawled notes. Dipping
dainty toes and painted nails into life's Pacific
always makes for a harder adrenaline rush. All they're
missing are the maps, compasses, and guidebooks.
Fairytale kisses ensnared in lockets. Drop C rhythms
captured by ruby machine heads. He lies her atop a
worn scratch plate and curls her hair through the
gauge nine strings. Her eyes shine like emeralds
to compliment pearl white fret markers. He's always
had the ability to cocoon his baby sweetheart in
pink affection and violet kisses; flooding her
veins with colour.
They'll dance upon a chessboard made for two, and
play as pawns until angel sunrise. Her make-up will
smear and his eyes will fade with exhaustion, but
they can sleep it off until noon. Rest sleepy heads
against lipstick stained pillows and the chrysalis
of the bed sheets. Love isn't all about the touch
of skin against skin.

OH. MY. GAWD.
That was seriously and undoubtedly PERFECT. I found nothing wrong with it. The images, the metaphors. I've been repeatedly amazed by your talent, yet this one absolutely blew me away. Just wow. Wow. I'm in shock. I'm going to walk around all day proclaiming my love for this poem now. Thank you.
