Posts: 76615 | July 14th, 2006 at 12:34pm Wham! was a U.K. 80's pop group, formed in 1981 by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley. They met at school in London and started performing together in a ska based band in 1979 called Executive. When that all finished they started writing songs and making demos between just the two of them and called themselves Wham! because they thought that was the sound made when they performed together.
Their most famous songs were Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go, Last Christmas and Careless Whisper, which were all big hits in 1984.
George Michael went on to have a very successful solo career, but Andrew Ridgeley kind of flopped .__.
