Caffeine Shots To The Head

"My life is spinning like a carousel stuck on repeat.
I can't see the pools of life gathered beneath my...eyes.
There's a puzzle in your expression that suggests my words
would have blended much better if I'd stumbled into rhyme,
but truth knows that I'm no fame-destined artist and
my human rights don't allow me to borrow that title.
Give the poets imagery if it'll make them smile into their pillows.
I'll settle for midnight kicks and teenage rhythms instead.
Make that another sugar in my coffee. I feel like getting high."

She filled the barstool beside me like a full moon.
Eyes like onyx and skin like ivory, she shone with temptation.
Every gaze in the room was fixated on her in lassos of lust,
but hers caressed the shape of the plastic screen in the corner.
Daily, wallflower news reports to swallow with her latté.
Caught myself wishing she wouldn't choke with all the pressure of
remembering every fact slid across the bar like a phone number.
She had such a pretty voice when it wasn't cracked with yawning.
Endearing school-girl shows of sophistication rarely last
through lunch-time rush hours but she was stressing to impress.
She's such an example of modern memorablilia with her manicured nails
that clutched to the seams of reality, scared she would rip it loose.
Her lips were working over-time when her brain had clocked off at five.

"Tear-burnt pillow cases must be a new fashion because mine
showcase moth-worn marks of misery in my insistence to fit.
Does life even have a purpose beyond seething...I mean,
breathing down bouts of nicotine-laced oxygen in shrouded bars?
Hand me another shot of caffeine, my memory is about to recover.
Reminiscing only ever sparked multiple rainclouds in my eyes.
I'm still so shallow that I can call the bottom my home and
I want to be high enough that I can catch a shooting star.
I just wish life was as simple as I pretend it is."

The second stanza was gorgeous, especially this part...
