Cause lately he seems..depressed? 
Yeah, when I saw them in April he looked kind of stressed out, but he really is amazing live. I was kinda annoyed they didn't play any old stuff but whatever. I guess he's growing up?
Tbh, "Your Favorite Weapon" is my favorite album by them. I adore it.
They didn't even play "Seventy Times Seven"? I love that one live. |

I know, I was so dissapointed that they didn't play that, it's my favourite song by them.
They only played songs from The Devil and God... which was really annoying, because I don't actually like that album much. This guy I know is a huge Brand New fan, and even he was dissapointed. Still Kerrang! sucked up to them and gave them 4 Ks, it's getting kinda predictable...
But yeah, Jesse is definitely amazing live, he just kind of appears to be a bit fucked up now... maybe he's different when he's not on stage, I dunno. |

Maybe they just hate the song, though. I mean, wouldn't be surprising, with those lyrics. 
And I guess if I hated a song, if people kept chanting for it, it would just make me hate it more.. sucks, though. That album is incredible. |

Here's a bit of history for you:
Jesse and John Nolan were best-friends for most of their lives.
Jesse's girlfriend cheated on him with John.
Jesse found out.
John called Jesse, and the last words that Jesse spoke to him were, "You're as subtle as a brick on the small of my back so lets end this call and end this conversation" and hung up.
That was the last time they spoke, and then years later Brand New added it as lyrics.
Taking Back Sunday then came out with the song "There's No 'I' In Team," which expresses John's side of the story.
70x7 was written about John Nolan.
There's No 'I' In Team was written about Jesse Lacey.
They are now friends again.

It's because they feel they can no longer relate to the lyrics on YFW. So they don't enjoy playing it as much. And also, last time I spoke to Vinnie I asked him if they were going to start playing it and he said, "To be honest with you, there's really no chance. We're fucking sick of playing it."
Btw, about Jesse being depressed; every time I've talked to him he has been utterly chipper and friendly and chatty. |

Alright, story time:
Thomas and I were just gonna sit in Maxwell's to see if we could see Jesse milling about before the show, but then my mom let it slip we were hoping for tickets, which we hadn't mentioned but it was sure true. So this bald guy is like "Alright, it's 24 bucks for the both of them." [This show had been sold out for four months or so] I must have melted in a puddle of teen sweat right there, but my mom went and got the money and we got in. This guy called Kevin Divine played a couple of songs and he was really good, and then Jesse joined him. They played a couple Brand New songs:

Anyway, he talked for ages about how he regrets signing to a major record label, about how he does what he wants, et cetera. When I first began liking TBS, I liked BN.
I've been a BN fan longer than I've been a TBS fan.
But to me Jesse seems really different, like I said before.
I don't know. The last time I got to talk to him he seemed quiet, shy, tired, and mad.
But years earlier when I met him at a show, he was the nicest person EVER. :/ |
