Posts: 2538 | September 25th, 2006 at 05:22pm It's been too long since I've posted. I'm trying to get back into poetry. Bear with me.
I always wanted you to keep me innocence
between frozen hour-glasses and photographs.
Hand me your screenshots of puberty but
I won't understand the fraying edges of green:
the metaphors for the jealousy and sickness.
Tired of recklessly cutting up expectations,
you'd rather weigh your head on another pillow.
The imbalance wouldn't seem an injustice then.
You pushed me on the swing until I saw
the whole of Heaven tumble back with me,
clouds kissing my palm with silver frames.
It was the only time I ever nursed the answers
between the headaches and the painkillers
that murder the headaches, not the memory.
You frowned when I extended that daisychain
towards your prolonged mask of masculinity.
I knew you wouldn't understand that I was
offering you blankets of moonlight on doorsteps,
breaks of sunshine through rainclouds and the
remnants of dewdrops in the first breaths of day.
But I was on that beaded chain of childishness.
You turned your cheek and the twilight pooled
in the crevices life had ploughed through you.
There was nothing but hollow stops at the
bottom of everything that you believed in.
I left those daisies anyway between the pages
of the textbook creased with stress on your desk,
just like a kiss pressed to the theories that caught
the sighs that you pumelled the pages with at night.
There's no answers in your thesis and philosophies.
Just a twine of daisies and a folded letter I left you
scrawled in undeniable twists of naivety that says:
"I always wanted you to keep me innocent." |

In other words (instead of my rambling crap) that was fantastic and I hope that your confidence grows more  because hell, we need someone to show how it's done. |
