Aside from social work she runs a program called 'Treasures' that helps strippers find a better job, because no woman she have to resort to stripping for money. She has rounded up many women from her church and they have created a help program for strippers. They put gift bags together for the women that work at the clubs, and talk with the women. Some of them are drug addicts, single moms, and are contemplating suicide. She has saved many of the women and helped them find a better way to make money and re-gain some self esteem. She counsels them herself and refers them to clinics if they need it. She has changed a lot of people's lives, and to read the whole article about her printed in Glamour Magazine click here. |

For instance, people have taken to taking pole dancing lessons recently, as a means of having fun/getting fit. Yes, chances are being in a shitty bar somewhere with overweight old men shoving dollars into your g-string may be demeaning, but there are also high class strip bars, where the woman are well paid and happy. It depends which end of the spectrum you look at, and where you're looking at. I don't believe stripping is good or bad, as it can be both. It's great that 'Harmony Dust' is helping all these women who are at the lower end of the spectrum, but there are women who are quite happy. |
Anji Basket Case ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 15914 ![]() | I disagree that no woman should not have to resort to stripping, because it's not a resolution for some women to strip. I mean, you get male strippers as well, and more often than not, male strippers are doing their job voluntarily, yes, but some women do like to strip. I'm waiting for courtney to come on here and inevitably talk about her idol. |

Misanthropist Post Whore ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 23279 | There are many woman (and men) who like to strip, and love that art (or maybe just the practice). I do think that it's good that 'harmony Dust' is helping those less fortunate, and feel they have to 'resort' to stripping. But really, I don't think anyone has to really resort to stripping if they are against it. There are other forms of making money, and there are always programs to help, such as welfare. |
The Doctor Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 8786 ![]() ![]() | Misanthropist:The welfare state is the worst excuse for help I have ever known, they don't even give you full benefits if you have savings of over fifty pounds. I know from experiance. |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | "resort to stripping" You say it like its bad, alot of women love that they do. However, some don't and I think its good to show them other options if they want to. But stripping is not a horrible career. |

Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Bloodraine: Women don't get STD's and pregnant from taking clothes off. |
Matt Smith Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 31134 ![]() ![]() | I_worship_tre_Cool: What does that have to do with anything? |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Bloodraine:You asked if it could be applied to prostitution, thats why it can't. They are two totally differnet things. It doesnt matter who enjoys it, its dangerous. |
NeoSteph Basket Case ![]() Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 16494 ![]() ![]() | I_worship_tre_Cool: well dancing in front of a room full of drunk rowdy men can't exactly be a walk in the park. |
Matt Smith Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 31134 ![]() ![]() | I_worship_tre_Cool: So is stripping, depending on the situation. |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Bloodraine: For that matter, any job can be dangerous, so lets all stop working. Stripping and prostitution are not the same. You can't get STD's from stripping, and you can't get pregnant. NeoSteph:Its sterotypes such as that, that give strippers their bad reps. |
NeoSteph Basket Case ![]() Age: 37 Gender: Female Posts: 16494 ![]() ![]() | I_worship_tre_Cool: well lets see there are two strip clubs in plymouth and i know people that work at both of them and i think they'll agree with me that yes rowdy men are involved and wtf how does that give strippers a bad name if anything it gives the men that go to those clubs bad credit. anyway. The type of stripping that is popular and dangerous is private party's where strippers go to houses or to men's clubs. I have also been told that many strippers have dug addictions as it stripping is a fast income to paying off a debt. |
Matt Smith Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 31134 ![]() ![]() | I_worship_tre_Cool: Its actually STDs, the apostrophe is wrong ![]() "You say it like its bad, alot of women love that they do. However, some don't and I think its good to show them other options if they want to." Why exactly doesn't that apply to prostitution? 'cause you can get STDs and become pregnant (not always a bad thing) from it? But can't some women still not want to really do the job, and isn't it good to show them other options if they want to? |
Kurtni Admin ![]() Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 34289 ![]() ![]() | Bloodraine: I think its great to help women see other options aside from prostitution, but I don't think the ones who enjoy it should be allowed to. It's still dangerous. ![]() |
Misanthropist Post Whore ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 23279 | Joan Greenwood: Alright, I'm not familiar with welfare so maybe on that point I'm wrong. I do think it's good that this 'Harmony' is helping those in desperate need of help...but I don't see why anyone has to 'resort' to stripping. is it because they don't know other options? |
The Doctor Falling In Love With The Board ![]() Age: 35 Gender: Female Posts: 8786 ![]() ![]() | Misanthropist:Depends on individual circumstances really. |
Misanthropist Post Whore ![]() Age: 32 Gender: Female Posts: 23279 | Joan Greenwood:I suppose, but some stripping you make quite good money, and it's a pretty easy way to get cash even if you don't like it. So in a sense, the ones that really hate it could always find a different job, but are too I-don't-know-what to make the effort. Example: My aunt. She hates stripping and is ashamed of it, but she still does it and will most likely continue to do it for a long time. She does it for the fact that it pays the rent, and she doesn't want to work an 8-5 job. Sure, that's an individual case and she could probably use a good knock upside the head and some help from someone, but (depending on the case, admittedly) I don't think that people can just desperately 'resort' to stripping. |
