This wasn't a topic I'd ever really thought about until a few months ago, when I was introduced to a band called Robots in Disguise, and a member called Dee Plume who chooses not to shave. At first I had the "Ugh, that's gross!" reaction, but after seeing her hairy pits in many pictures, it became something that I expected to see and no longer found "weird".

Despite this, many people have said that they don't like Dee, or find her attractive because of her body hair. They say it's a complete turn-off and that they'd never think of dating a woman with body hair. Their main reasons for this are that it's unhygenic, unattractive of just plain "wrong".

However, there's not reason why body hair would make a woman unhygenic, after all, most men have body hair and that's not considered unhygenic at all!! For the unattractive, that's just down to personal opinion, but the main reason many people are put off is because of society's expectations. The only reason women shave is because that's what every other woman does.

Even when presented with these reasons, though, people still don't agree that it is "normal." They say stubble is OK, but full on tufts of hair is too much....but at what point do they draw the line?

Although I probably wouldn't choose not to shave, I say Congratulations to women who are prepared to do what they want, and not waste so much money on removin hair that is perfectly natural, as well as not being afraid to stand out and say "'I don't give a fuck, it's my hair, get over it!'

Oh..and before I forget, there's a group of people from another forun I go on, who are campaigning against this advert which clearly announces "Stubble is for men. Veet dissolves the hair making me feel all woman" Which basically is saying that it's wrong for women to have body hair.

The group campaigning against it have decided to grow their hair as a protest...
..I'm thinking of joining. What do you think?

Well, our body hair is there for a reason, so I see nothing wrong with not shaving (although it'd make you smell more if your armpit hair did it's lovely job of soaking up all the sweat).

I do shave though

Whatever you're comfortable with I guess. I hate having stubbly armpits and legs personally, but if the woman doesn't mind it then it doesn't really affect everyone else Faith

I only really shave my armpits and legs. I wear tights all the time and pulling them on with the friction hair causes isn't nice. But yeah, you should be able to do what you want with your own body hair really.

But women who are all ZOMGMUSTSHAVEANDWAXEVERYBODILYORIFICE are weird. It's like, jesus christ, do you want to be all bald and hairless and childlike for every inch of your body? o.o

I agree 100% Mr. Green

I just think it's great that some women are comfortable enough not to give into the opinions of the freaky women you described =]

Imagine the scenario, though.

You're on a tube train, tight, compact with everyone else on a hot day and you're amidst a group of people having to hold onto the above head hand rails and you've got someone's armpit in your face.

It's bad enough with just the sweat, but with hair as well, whether it be male or female, it's not something I would enjoy.

But if men did so as well, then that would elimiinate the problem Smiley
The point is, most women shave because it's expected off them, but if you asked a guy to shave, he wouldn't take you seriously.

Whatever happened to equality of the sexes!??!

I hate how women are expected to OMGSHAVESHAVESHAVE. If women weren't supposed to have body hair, why would teh nature make their bodies grow it? o_o

I like the idea of not caring about it but don't find hairy women too visually attractive. hmm.

Yeah and I hate it how it's okay for men to be hairy but not women. But even though I hate it, I'd be okay with being with a hairy guy but not with a hairy girl. Ah fucking double standards.

I shave my arms Coolio I funking hate the way hair feels. I don't care really about how other people think I might look with hair, I just find it to be a disgusting feeling. If there was no pressue put on women to shave.. I think I'd still do it O_O hair just grosses me out unless its on my head

Women can do what they want with their own body hair, there shouldn't be some law saying they have to shave. But if they don't, it isnt like they can expect it to not be noticed or treated as "normal" when they're in the minority. And I don't think its unfair for men to not be attracted to them, everyone has personal tastes in what they find hot.

I personally feel better if I shave, especially my armpits, but it just depends on your preference and culture. I wouldn't want any woman's (or man's for that matter) hairy armpits in my face, but otherwise it doesn't matter to me either way.

Why is it lazy behaviour if a woman does not shave and OK behaviour if a man doesn't?
Don't you think there are more important things to do in the time spent shaving and better things to do with money than to spend it on hair removal??

I've actually took the time to work out how much of my life has been wasted by shaving.

It takes me roughly 15mins to shave
I shaved once every 3 days
I've been shaving since the christmas before I turned 13.

This means, in 122 of the days last year I shaved.
15 x 122 = 1830 minutes = 30.5 hours.
Times that by 2.5 = 76.25 hours.

I only started shaving 2 and a half years ago, and I've already wasted 3 days of my life doing it.
For a woman of 30, they've spent over A MONTH (38 days) of there life shaving...
...which the men have been able to do what they want in.

Are you seeing the light yet??
