Finally, my mum got us some books to read on holiday and she got us the first two HP books and I actually read them and I fell in love.
That was about 8 years ago.

 | August 13th, 2007 at 10:58pm I was in grade 4, I think. We went to Costco and there were the first three books or something there. My mum said: ''Hey, I hear these books are quite good! I'll buy them for you, if you want.'' They weren't really expensive, so she bought all three. And I loved them immediately. ^^
of course, that was all in French. And the fourth book was the first I had to wait for. |

She kept trying to get me to read it but at the time I hated reading so I didn't end up picking it up until a year later. Once I did however I couldn't and wouldn't put it down. I fell in love with Harry Potter and with reading. and that was....9 or 10 years ago...holy crap thats a long time ago |

 | August 14th, 2007 at 02:30am When I was nine or ten, everyone around me was all "I read a story about your brother! Harry Potter. (that makes more sense if you know my last name is Potter) ...it's not bad though. You should read it." So really, I guess I got into it because of the name. I had my mother buy me the first book, and I was instantly hooked. I've been reading them for 8 almost 9 years. Since fifth grade. |

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 8405 | August 14th, 2007 at 03:57am I, at first, swore to myself not to read them. I hated all the hype around them and figured the word was just overreacting. But my mom, who worked at this tiny bookstore thing, had a few minutes and read the first two pages of PS, and told me they were really good, so she read it and told me to do so, which I did, albeit reluctantly. She got to the first 4 before me, but I read 5-7 before her. WOO.
But I think I've been reading them since....third grade? |

 | August 14th, 2007 at 04:02am My mom took me to the first movie, and tbh, it creeped me out.
But we went to Barnes and Noble afterwards and bought me the first book and I read it, loved it, read the next three in the next two weeks. |

I can't remember the exact day, but I know at some point my dad would have bought all the books (1-3), and I just started reading them. I was 8 or 9.

So later on my brother like, paid my mum to read me it asa a bedtime story...she only read about two pages a night and i got intrigued. I stole the book, read it myself and the rest is history. |

 | August 14th, 2007 at 01:25pm Wow, uh, I believe I was eight, I think, and I would visit the library all the time because I read like a ridiculous amount. And I became very close the the librarian and she recomended it to me as it was a new book and 'apparently becoming quite popular'.

 | August 14th, 2007 at 01:27pm I was 7 and my mum bought me PS and COS in paperback. I read them and loved them. After that, I always read them as soon as they came out and such, but I re-read them earlier this year and fell in love with them completely. I reached a whole new level of obsession. |

 | August 14th, 2007 at 02:30pm I think I was about 9 and someone from my class at school gave me Philosopher's Stone for my birthday. I read the first couple of chapters and didn't get it so I put it down. Then a few weeks later I saw something on Blue Peter listing the nominations for some book award and that was their favourite one so I started again and once I was about 6 chapters in I found out it was brilliant XD
Then I got CoS at an airport when I went on holiday, probably later that same year, PoA a few weeks after it came out, and the rest first day they were released
I remember staying up late on holiday to finish the book one night and it scared me in the dark |

 | August 14th, 2007 at 05:28pm Well, I remember when I was in third grade, my brother got the first book and I remember he recieved the second book as a package from Amazon.com. He loved them and he was obsessed before me. So in fifth grade, a bit after the fourth book came out, I decided to take them out of the school library.
I read the first one. But when I finished it, I couldn't find it so I took PoA. I remember my mom confiscated it when I was halfway done because I wouldn't clean my room. xD. Then I got the fourth one. And then after weeks of waiting, someone finally returned the fourth one to the library and I read it.
And I loved them all since I read the first book. Been addicted ever since. Six years of Pottermania. Its a damn shame my kids won't have it. |
