So do you think that the Day of Silence is a good way to protest cruelty [etc] towards Gays, BIsexuals, and Lesbians, or should it be completely redesigned? Tell me, I must know.
The Day of Silence is organized as a grassroots project by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) in collaboration with the United States Student Association (USSA).
The national focus of the Day of Silence is specific to ending bullying and harassment of students, particularly physical violence and verbal threats.

While I agree with people that being silent probably isn't effective, it has it's good side.

It's like, gays don't have a say in life. I don't understand what the big deal is. So they are gay. All in all, the sticking up for your beliefs by not talking is proper good.

I think it's silly. I applaud people for wanting to fight against secuality-based discrimination, but you have a voice for a reason. Not talking isn't sticking up for what you believe in, it just makes you easier to ignore. There are millions of people who participate in this day, but they don't say anything obviously, they make no statements. Imagine how much bigger of an impact they would have if they spoke out against discrimination. Not to mention that this day has become a trend in high schools. People decorate ducktape to match their outfits to put over their mouth, it's become a fashion statement and that defeats the point.

Millions of quite people are easy to pass over, however millions of people speaking out is impossible not to see.

its especially meant for gays, but they also say its discrimination of any kind.
And also it syas that the silence is suppoused to represent the silence that certain people have because they are so afraid of talking that they'd get hurt, and they even stay home at school. That's why I did it.

I support the sentiment, but I don't think being quiet is the way to go. I think that there should just be a day of....noise? I don't know, I just think that people should speak up to make a difference, instead of simply saying nothing. Voice their opinion, and such.
