Ink kisses on parchment paper are artificial lies
bound to the palpitating pulse of a desperate muse.
Shots of fabrications were easier to drain in tides of
angst than uncomplicated truths ever were to dreamers.
Victims of distortion are always so easy to manipulate
when their truths are lost in wisps of factory clouds;
the vapourised semen of an industrialised society.
We're all the spawn of an opinionated minority;
voices cracked and hoarse with the strain of trying
to be something other than a stuttering repetition.
Beauty was never defined in an archaic encylopedia.
And truths were never scribed upon its rotting pages.
Just out-dated facts and paranoia, moral panics and
dominant ideologies - the phobias of a weakened mind.
What was general consensus is now the literary leaves
we pad our pillows with, yarns of comedic ignorance
that has melted with new-age trends and stereotypes.
A new day will sieve fresh ideas from the gutters.
As shallow as puddles and as deep as vanity.
The bitter drug we swallow with our brand-name cereal.
Train-track expression and conventional rules of misuse.
Quoting Shakespeare on alarm-clock command and disregarding
his romantic ideologies in a flicker of gothic guise.
There's a handbook for this kind of elitist etiquette,
an instruction manual for the intellectually ignorant.
Special offer genius in artistic form. Muse not included.
It's a rip-off deal for optimists but it's a best seller.
You can spin a thesaurus into dishevelment for substitutes
if this declaration doesn't suit your mood, select from
an array of mutated words that express similar definitions,
but this orthodox message will boldy remain the same.
This isn't new-wave poetry in rebellious form.
This is anarchy in folded sheets of literacy. |
