Our history books don't spend too much time talking about this. Even so, I'm shocked at the number of people so far who haven't heard of this.

To me, this kind of thing ties in a lot with the NSA wiretapping thing going on. In both cases, the government claimed to be acting to protect the American people by violating their rights. Hmm.

To be fair, though, this is not something that you can malign modern America for. It happened in WWII, when most of the population wasn't even born.
I'm surprised a lot of people haven't heard it either
and I think this isn't like the NSA, I think the NSA would have delt with it better
the NSA just keeps a tole on all suspects (even though it's racist, it does work...and that does piss me off
it should have never happened, and my history books do spend a while on this, and America needs a day of apologies and rememberance of what happened

it was a mistake

ive never heard about this, but its terrible. but comparing it to the holocaust is unfair. most of these people were just deported, many of the jews in the german concentration camps were murdered. but that was still a gross infringement of basic human rights and just shows that the american government are total hypocrites

i agree that this shouldn't be compared to the holocaust, but many people WERE killed, like when this one elderly guy was playing catch with his grandson and when the older guy went to pick up the ball near the fence a guy shot him...claiming that he was trying to escape
i read somewhere that in one camp alone 170 people were killed...

i doubt so many were killed as in the german concentration camps... i think that was about 6 million people all together.

im going to have to disagree with you all on this. think about it. its basic paranoia on behalf of the americans. they were just trying to make sure that they were safe and to be honest i think most people would do the same. but comparing it to the holocaust is wrong. the holocaust was a blatant attempt to destroy an entire race just for the sake of it, to be honest. this was an attempt by america to protect itself. i agree that maybe it was a bit over the top, but i can see why they did it. oh, and that "apartment" is nothing like the sleeping conditions at auschwitz. it doesnt come close.

You can see why they did it...well, yeah. I can too. But that doesn't make it right, that doesn't change the fact that this is like rounding up all the Muslims after September 11th. The US of A has a wonderful thing I like to call "due process." When it's observed, we have justice, of a sort. When its not observed...

Detaining people because they, or their parents, came from an island and get their r's and l's switched is wrong.
