You know what, the man who wrote that about Marilyn Manson needs to be beaten up.
I hate how people attack Manson, I really do. He's a singer. It's pretty much in his JOB DESCRIPTION to be shocking and all that bullshit. He doesn't believe in god? Fine, that's his business.
He makes good music, puts on a good show. Alice Cooper did the same thing back in the day, as do a million other bands that just aren't as popular as Manson.
And you know what? A million other celebrities have done illegal things. Hookers, drugs, vandalism. The whole nine yards. THe media zeros in a on Manson because of his whole image.
And those boys at Columbine killed people because they were unhappy. Because their classmates bullied them to an extreme and the teachers did nothing to stop it. Their music had nothing to do with it. I can bet money that if their favorite band had been N'SYNC, the issue of musical influence would never have been an issue.

That isn't exactly all his views, but parts of some of them. He's hard to interprt.

I disapprove of him using his popularity and major influence to do such obsceneties. I've liked him as a musician for a while now as I've respected and even admired his distinction, but as he gets more famous every day, I'm concerened he will use his fame and approval of the majority to behave irrationally and over the top.
I remeber reading in the paper one day, while I was still a child, but I cannot remember for sure; a story about two teenage girls (who were big fans of Manson) stabbing a nun, supposedly influenced by his music. I remember that reading that made me appalled, especially at that age. Today, I'm finding it hard to believe that Marilyn's music itself had led them to their act. However, I believe he should not dissrespect other people's religions in his songs. He has his faith, he has his beliefs, he shouldn't impel it to his young listeners. He is an adult human being, he is aware that such young people will get confused, not completely understand his message and yet idolize him.

That is just wrong. "WHAT YOU CAN DO TO STOP MANSON". No we cannot stop him. Not in that way. He needs to realize that some of the things he is doing are immoral, he needs to conquer himself. He doesn't need to change what's inside. I just think he should keep some of it to himself.

Mmm, I'm not Marilyn's biggest fan but he doesn't deserve all that shit.
It's kinda like in Camus's 'The Outsider'. if you don't play the rules of life, then you're an outsider basically. I think he's just doing what he wants and it's kinda pathetic to blame problems on his music because of the lyrical content. It's like (crazy example) I listened to "Dominated Love Slave" and if I went into that style of activity then people'd blame the song.
Basically, even though I made a pretty shitty arguement, because he's different, they're using him as a scape goat. if that makes sense

Marilyn Manson is just a rockstar. It's not like he's some dictator or cult leader, or something. He just sings some rock and roll songs, and thats it. People put their own meanings to him.
As for Columbine, it was widely known that Eric and Dylan didn't like him because they thought he "a fag".
Personally, I think he just makes things up about his private life to further creeping people out. He is the poster boy for fear, so he has to carry through with it...
I think people have just run out of people to blame, or are afraid to think that maybe society was the reason kids do bad things. Parents don't want to think they were wrong in how they raised their kids, so they just sue someone with more money so they aren't looked at as part of the reason.
It's really sad...
