What do you guys think of it? Disappointed, to be honest. It's really good and all, but I enjoy the first 3 much, much more than the last 2
... but after many years of waiting, they're finally playing Vancouver in April and I've got floor tickets, so I'm fucking excited |

Age: 33 Gender: Female Posts: 8405 | January 17th, 2010 at 12:28am Omf. I just got Resistance a couple weeks ago, on a complete whim--I'd heard bits of Uprising here and there, dug it well enough...
and ohmyfuck.
This album.
Bloody phenomenal. Like nothing I've ever listened to before.
Then, it's not like I've heard more than, like, two of their other songs, maybe their other stuff is better...but with just this...my god.
My mind is sufficiently blown. |

My mind is sufficiently blown. You should pick up "Origin of Symmetry" by them. |

Whoa lucky!! I wanted to get that but settled for the cd/dvd.
I much prefer the resistance to their last album black holes... I think I just love Bellamy on the piano :] |

 | February 22nd, 2010 at 06:32am Knights of Cydonia, Invincible and Map of the Problematique are all better imo.
As for the new album, a lot of people keep saying "OMG BUT ORIGIN OF SYMMETRY LISTEN TO THAT" forgetting that a lot of people may well have done already. OoS is probably their best album simply for what it was at that time, but they were a completely different band back in 2001. The new album is still incredible in that they've fused their most pop sound with something so ludicrously OTT. For most bands it's one or the other, but with Muse they've managed to straddle both and still sound HUGE. |

Fucking phenomenal performance. I can now cross off seeing Muse as one of my "must do before I die" lists (which was looking like it might go unfulfilled for a while - I'm just going to throw it out there once more that Vancouver is the biggest city in the West half of Canada, and this was the first all-ages show they had ever played here). The crowd was total shit, though, ugh.
Anyway, regarding The Resistance - it's grown on me some more. But to be honest, my favorite song is probably Unnatural Selection, the song that sounds most like their older stuff. :/
I dunno, I feel like they've strayed a bit too far from the Muse that has the sentimental place in my heart. |
