What Really Goes On In Billie Joe's Head, chapter 51
She gave me the pencil and a compact.
I flipped open the compact and looking in it. I carefully applied some eyeliner. I managed to make it look normal for once.
I gave Adie back the compact and the eyeliner pencil. The awkward silence was broken and everyone was laughing and chatting.
The limo stopped and two men in monkey vests opened the doors for us. We climbed out and took a look at the building.
It looked like a typical Vegas party building. We made our way to the front of the building. Mike was pointing at something and Sarah was laughing.
I was holding Adie's hand as Tre walked along side us.
Tre face was red from laughter and heat. Then, all of the sudden, Tre's smiling expression faded away.
He stopped walking and looked straight ahead.
"Tre? Tre?" I asked.
He was acting all weird.
I looked where he was looking and soon realized why he was behaving like that. Katie was standing in front of the gates with her arms wrapped around herself. I looked at her, and then looked at Tre.
I kept on doing this.
"Can you stop doing that?" whispered Adie as she nudged me in the side.
Katie walked towards Tre.
"Tre..I-I'm sorry..I didn't mean to," she said.
Her face was stained with tears.
"So now you're apologizing?" asked Tre.
"Tre...I'm really really sorry,"
Tre was silent.
"Can you forgive me? I've thought about it..And figured out that I was being unfair," said Katie.
Tre still didn't answer.
"I love you.." said Katie, sounding more desperate.
"I know that if we get back together..It's not gonna last," said Tre quietly.
"But Tre,"
Tre glanced at me.
"I'm sorry. I'm truly sorry," said Tre.
Katie pulled Tre into a hug. Tre didn't do anything. He was just limp.
I widened my eyes and caught Tre's eye. I gave him my What-do-you-think-you're-doing look.
Tre pushed Katie away.
"I am not apologizing to you. I'm saying sorry because I'm leaving you. It's over. I'm serious. And don't come back to me all sweet and sincere. I don't like ass kissers,"
"What?"
"I know you heard me. You've changed for the worse. I can tell,"
"Do you know what you're talking about?" asked Katie.
"I know exactly what I'm talking about," said Tre as he went past Katie and started going into the gates.
I didn't look at Katie and grabbed Adie's hand.
Then we followed Tre into the building. Tre was walking fast and I had to keep up with my short legs.
I eventually caught up with Tre.
"You ok, man?" I asked.
"I'm fine. I mean it," I leaned my head to get a good view of Tre's face.
He looked tense.
"Good job," I muttered.
Just then Adie popped up behind me. I heard Mike and Sarah run up behind us. We walked down the lobby and into the stadium. We got front row seats. I sat in between Adie and Tre.
We waited until the stadium lights flashed. Fire shooted from the stage and the smoke was everywhere. Once the smoke cleared up, a group of girls stepped out and did their introductary dance.
They all had microphones attached to their heads and the girl in the front did the main singing. Red feathers were attached to their asses and they wore a whole bunch of glittery makeup. And no tops.
Then the lights flashed and they ran off the stage.
The second act was another set of girls wearing tailsuits, slightly tall black hats, and white gloves. In the center of the stage was a chair.
A male dancer got in it and the girls did a dance around him. The singer pranced around and took off the guy's hat.
I slumped down in my seat.
I closed my eyes and eventually started sleeping.
