What Really Goes On In Billie Joe's Head, chapter 53
I opened one eye.
Joey was standing there, with his little hands covering his eyes. I froze. Then I rolled away from Adie.
"Erm...What is it, Joey?" I asked.
Joey peeped through between his fingers.
"I needed to go real bad, and when I went to my bathroom there was pee all over the floor so I decided to come to your bathroom, but then I caught you and mommy practically eating each others faces!" He explained.
He grabbed his crotch.
"I need to go real bad, though," he added.
"Go ahead," I answered.
"Thank you," he said as he ran to our bathroom.
"Eating each others faces," muttered Adie as she let out a short laugh.
I heard the toilet flush. Then I saw Joey rush out of the bathroom and out of our room.
I glanced at Adie's body in temptation. I wished to slip her nightdress off. I can't help these thoughts. It's how a guy's mind works.
Of course Adie doesn't think about this kind of stuff very often, her being a woman.
Unless she's lesbian.
Ugh, I've got to get these thoughts out of my head. I put my hand on Adie's waist. I felt her curves.
She looked at me and grinned.
"I'm not sure I want to tonight," she said.
I breathed out through my nose. If she says no, it's definantly no. There is no way I could urge her or push her to sleep with me. But how can she refuse with a grin?
I sighed.
"I guess...I'll just go to sleep right now," I said. Adie awkwardly nodded.
I slipped under the covers and closed my eyes. Adie flicked off the lamp. I found Adie's body and held her in my arms.
I rested my head on her shoulder and lightly kissed her neck. I secretly wished to get another chance.
I woke up, finding myself on the ground. Adie's arm was hanging over the edge of the bed.
How the hell did I end up on the floor? I stood up and rubbed the back of my head. I got back on the bed next to Adrienne. Adie was sleeping face down.
I sighed and looked up at the ceiling. I hated mornings like this. Usually Adie's the first one to be awake. I sat up and climbed out of bed. I dragged myself to the kitchen and looked at the Breakfast in Bed menu.
I dialed the number and ordered one vegetarian breakfast, 2 kiddie meals, and one normal breakfast. I sat in the kitchen as I waited for the food to come. I heard my stomach growling.
After about what seemed ages, someone knocked on the door. A waiter rolled in with a cart holding mouth-watering foods.
I gave him a 50 dollar tip. I reached for my breakfast and brought it to the dining table. I sat down and picked up my fork.
Just then, Adie appeared into view. She took a seat across from me.
"I ordered some breakfast for you," I informed her.
"Thanks," she said as she got up and neared the cart.
She came back with her dish and set it down. I chewed my toast as I listened to the clatter of Adie's silverware.
"Do you...wanna celebrate our anniversary today?" she asked after a while.
"Why is that?" I asked.
"Well, it's supposed to be tomorrow, but tomorrow we have to get on the bus and go to Arizona,"
"Oh sh- I forgot about that,"
"So wouldn't it be nicer to celebrate our anniversary in advance?"
"Yeah. Thanks for bringing that up."
Everything was silent again.
"So...What have you got planned?" I asked.
"Mmm... I guess we'll just let things..happen,"
"Uhh.. Yeah."
Joey and Jakob appeared at the door. Adie picked up Jakob and kissed him on the cheek.
Joey flung himself into my arms. He snuggled up to me and it seemed to me that he forgot all that he saw last night.
Sometimes I wish people were like that. I know it's a little shallow, but people don't need to make a huge deal out of stuff.
