Another Beginning, chapter 2
"That's bullshit Sheena," my friend Jules said after I told her I got the part.
"Well, whatever you want to believe," I said.
"Are you serious?"
I nodded my head confidently.
"You are. Holy shit. When are you leaving? What are... "
The questions trailed on and on. I was so proud of myself. I must have made a really good audition tape, or they really liked me at the interview. Or, everyone else sucked.
"But you cant tell anyone," I told her.
"Cause no ones here... " Jules sang.
"Left me here alone, and I should've stayed home," I joined in and we sung all the way to class. It was hard for us to control ourselves. Mr. Green wasn't paying attention, as usual.
At lunch, Jules and I met up with our friend Rudie. It was usually just us three together for lunch, considering we weren't the most social people in our school. I was the only one who brought my lunch regularly, but today I forgot about it, probably because of the shock still wearing off.
"Hey, did you hear what Sheena's doing?" Jules said to Rudie.
"Didn't I tell you to shut up about that?" I said.
"Yea, but, who is she going to tell? Its not like we've got connections. Or anyone else will care."
"Amanda," I said.
Amanda is one of those obsessed Billie Joe fans, a teenie if you will. She even comes to sit down with us and talk about him at lunch, but doesn't know shit about Green Day. Why did they have to put four chairs at a table?
"Is this about Green Day?" said Rudie curiously.
"Ok, I'll tell you but you HAVE to keep it a secret, just us three, ok?"
"Ok."
"You know about the American Idiot Movie right? Well, remember how I tried out for Whatsername? Well when I--"
"YOU GOT THE PART!" Rudie yelled.
"Yeah, she did, now shut up about it or we'll kill you." Jules said with a Godfather-like voice.
"Ok guys, but, holy shit, this is awesome Sheena! I can't believe you. I didn't even believe you when you went back for a second audition. When are you flying out... "
The same set of questions followed as when I told Jules what happened. Jules answered them all for me, but leaving out a lot of it. Probably in case Rudie did tell anyone.
"So your leaving the 21st? That's soon, only a week after Winter Break." Rudie said.
Jules was tearing apart the pizza she bought from school. She looked up at some girl who was staring at her and cocked an eyebrow. The girl walked away and Jules started laughing at her.
"Yea," I paused, watching Jules, "but I'm really going to miss you guys, and over summer break you can come out to the set for a couple of days."
"WHAT?!" said Jules. "You mean meet Green Day?"
"Don't tell me you haven't thought about that yet," said Rudie.
"No, not really. You think we can, and Adrienne too?"
"Maybe, I've only talked to the guys two times. That would be pretty awesome, wouldn't it?"
"Yes, it would be 7 million times better than a concert. God, I really hate my mom for that," said Jules.
None of our moms would let us go to a concert. They said it's like "asking to go to a crack party" which I guess is something they don't want us doing.
