Bad Reputation, chapter 1
Bad Reputation, an all-girl punk rock band. That's who they were. Taylor was the ringleader, a lead siger, guitar player, the basic backbone of the whole enchilada, a Johnny Ramone of the band. Kayla the fucked up drummer, the laid back, drum crazy, but loveable joker. And Juliya, the smart bass player, the female Sid Vicious, a vocalist, and a friend. The dynamic trio, as they were known in high school. By that time they had played CBGB's seven times. They were also Gilman Street locals, where the attitude was ' No Fighting, No Booze, No Rasists, No Sexists'.
Taylor was nineteen and still living with her parents. Her mother had a new friend coming over, her name was Ollie. She was bringing her son over, he was also noneteen and didn't want to spend the day with a bunch of girls. What he didn't know was that he had seen these girls before at Gilman Street and they had seen him before. they didn't know eachother personally, they never even talked. Maybe they said two words to each other and that was it. "Taylor, I want you to be nice to her son" her mom said. "As long as he's nice to me" Taylor said. This usually meant 'As long as he stays out of my way'. Her vision of the boy was a geeky nobody. His vision of her was a preppy snot. The attitude of both of them was pretty much the same from what Taylor's mother had experienced. The big thing was her mother failed to mention he was in a band, he had a car, he was a punk, he lived for music, and he played guitar. "I don't even want to be bothered with him. I got band practice." She turned around to her bandmates and walked in between them, signaling them to follow her. They all walked down the stairs and took their places. Kayla sat at the drum set,all revved up and ready to go. She slammed her crash, and hit her floor tom and bass drum, sending a sound wave out that shook the house, Taylor's mom opened the door, "Keep it down!! Kayla, I'm gonna shove those drum sticks somewhere!!". Juliya stood lazily at her post with her Fender bass around her, she played the bass line of London Calling and looked around. Juliya kicked her amp on andt urned it up all the way. Taylor was as energetic as Kayla, She turned her amp up all the way and stepped on her distortion. "Ready!" Taylor yelled. Kayla hit her drum sticks together just as the door bell rang. "They're here..." Taylor announced. She was less then happy.
"Well, aren't you just the least bit curious about what he looks like?" Kayla asked.
Taylor put some thought in to it for a second, "No". Juliya and Kayla exchanged amused glances. "Well, let's go check him out then" Kayla said. Her sudden action caught Taylor by surprise. "What?! No!" she hissed. Taylor jumped as Kayla and Juliya silently made there way up the cellar steps. They wouldn't notice they were there unless they looked real hard because the lights were off. "Don't step right out in the light because my mom might think we're up to something" Taylor warned. "Stop bein' like this you're scaring me. You're never this nervous ever. And we are up to something. Relax!" Juliya whispered. Kayla open the door a cracked and looked out. Ollie's son looked in curiosity at the suddenly opened door. Taylor's mom noticed and turned around to see half a face in the door way. Kayla had the same color eyes as Taylor from far away and her mom noticed it might be her. "Taylor is that you?" she asked. Kayla definetly wasn't thinking and stood up to her full height, she opened the door and stepped out into the light-- just like Taylor had told her not to do. "No, it's Kayla" Kayla said pointing to her self. "Gar!! Kayla, you dumbass!" Taylor said. Kayla looked at him head to toe, he was cute, but Kayla would definetly not date him. "Ooooooh! Talor he's your type" Kayla blurted out. Ollie's son smiled and Ollie and Taylor's mother burst out laughing. Through the laughter Taylor's mom managed to say "Taylor come out here". Kayla stood there smiling at her friend, waiting for her to come out.
"Oh, yeah, Now I'm gonna come out" Taylor growled. The boy wasn't expecting much, that was until Kayla managed to pick up her friend and pull her out into the open. Billie Joe looked at her. He knew right then and there he wanted her. She had a stone cold hazel stare, hair that was different shades of blue, dark brown and blonde, and she was a punk. Taylor all of a sudden didn't care, the boy in her world was not a boy. He was probably full grown. If it was a geeky mama's boy then he would be considered a boy, but he looked completely capable of provideing for himself. She walked over to him and the mothers stopped laughing like two school girls. "This is Billie Joe" Taylor's mother said.
"Billie Joe this is Taylor" Ollie said. Billie Joe looked at her eyes. He liked what he saw. Taylor looked at his eyes also. She decided he was acceptable and put out a fist. He knew exactly what to do. He pressed his fist against hers. It was a sign meaning he was alright. "You gonna go with her?" Ollie asked. Billie Joe smiled and nodded. They all went down to the basement. Ollie looked at Taylor's mother, "Heather, he likes her. I'd know that look any where." Heather smiled. "He seems to be her type" she said. "Yeah, I just hope he keeps it in his pants"...
