Longview, chapter 1
Is there anything worse than an extremely hot, humid day where you can't go outside because it's too hot, and you can't stay inside because it's too hot? Or better yet, when you're so bored on that hot, humid day that you result in looking words up in the dictionary?!?!? The answer is indeed, no, at least that's what I think. Anyways, it was on one of these hot, humid, boring days that one of my best friends asked me if I wanted to go see a Green Day concert with her.
"Okay, now tell me again, who the heck is Green Day???" I later asked her on the phone.
"Do you have the album 39/Smooth???" Stacie asked.
"Never heard of it."
"Just come to Gilman Street with me tonight to find out, okay???" she said, sounding very annoyed with me.
Later that day, Stacie dropped by my house to pick me up for the concert. Hell, my parents didn't care where I went or what I did, just so long as I didn't get arrested.
And that's exactly what happened. Well, not exactly... the thing about Stacie is that she drives a car but she doesn't have a driver's license. Anyways, before the concert, Stacie and I stopped at Chef Wong's to grab a bite to eat. As we were pulling into the parking lot, Stacie bumped into a cop car and completely totalled the front bumper. Not knowing what to do, Stacie just kept driving, which is when we heard the sirens in back of us.
"Oh god, here we go..." Stacie muttered, releasing a string of cuss words under her breath.
"So, how are you ladies tonight?" The cop asked, putting his arm on the roof of the car.
"Just great, and you?" Stacie said, trying to look as innocent as possible.
"Oh yeah, never better, especially after my car got completely wrecked. You got a license?"
"Um, yes, I do, right here, see!" Flooring the car, Stacie drove off in a hurried panic.
"Oh great, Stacie, now look what you've done," I sighed, smacking my head against the back of my seat.
"OH MY GOD!!!" Stacie suddenly shrieked, slamming on the breaks.
"Stacie! What the fu-" I was stopped short. Stacie had just hit some really cute looking guy and now he was lying on the ground in front of the car.
"Do you have any clue who that is???" She asked increduously.
"No, but he's hot!" I said, jumping out of the car to help whoever we had just hit.
"Yeah, well that's the lead singer of Green Day, Billie Joe!!!!"
Then things went from bad to worse. The cop car had pulled up behind me and Stacie.
"Uhhhh... Lindsey?"
"Yeah, what do you want? Come help me get this guy into the car!!"
"LINDSEY! Get into the car NOW! And bring the guy!!" she shrieked, panic stricken.
Since I didn't know that the cop had just gotten out of his car, I decided to take my time. "What's the rush?" I asked
"That!" Stacie exclaimed, pointing to the cop.
"Oh crap!!!" Dragging Bilie Joe as fast as I could into Stacie's car, she floored the gas and we were off before I even got a chance to shut my door.
"We are so dead!!! Billie Joe is dead, the cops are after us, and we can't go to Gilman Street now! Where should we go, what should we do... wait, I know!!! We can change our names, move to a different town, dye our hair..."
"Stacie, chill! Okay? Let's just go back to your place and try to fix Billie up, okay??? You can do this, come on, deep breaths. Yes, just like that."
"Thanks," Stacie exhaled, her hands loosening their grip on the steering wheel.
