Love at First Sight, chapter 9

About a week passed since you had recieved the news of your mother's death. You noticed something wasn't right with Billie Joe he seemed really lost in his thoughts latly. You didn't pay to much attention to it though, your mother's funeral was today. The realization of her death sunk deeper and deeper into you. You showered and got dressed in all black for the upcoming nightmare. Billie Joe had pretty much moved in with you. He didn't want to leave you in the current state you were in. You loved how much he cared about you. You had turned 18 in the past week, not really celebrating the occasion, due to the emotional climate you were in. Also, you excepted a job as a waitress along side Billie Joe's mother at the resturaunt she worked at. You were now the proud owner of a small apartment nearby. The past week had been hectic but you didn't mind keepying busy because you knew if you didn't your would fall apart. Billie Joe came into your room, looking down at his tie trying to figure out how to tie it, not noticing the fact that you had not yet put on your shirt but were standing there in your black bra and pants.
"Colleen, can you figure this out?" he said still transfixed on the tie. Then finally looking up to see you in your bra. "Oh...s...sorry." he managed to stammer out staring at your figure.
"Don't worry about it was bound to happen sometime." you said while putting on your shirt and walking over to Billie Joe and tying his tie for him.
"Thanks, and um...sorry again." he said a little dumbfounded as he turned and walked back into the bathroom.
The car ride to the funeral home was quiet, which was expected. Billie Joe held your hand the whole way there never letting go. Parking the car Billie Joe turned off the ignition and sat for a moment not getting out of the car.
"What's wrong?" you asked surprised you could still speak considering the place you were parked at.
"Nothing I'm fine." he said while getting out of the car and walking with you into the funeral home.
Walking in you found all your friends and family who were there to comfort and support eachother through this hard time. Stepping into the viewing room you stopped and your eyes widened and you squeezed Billie Joe's hand as hard as you could. He winced a little in pain, but came to realize what you were looking at. Straight in front of you was your mother's closed casket. You closed your eyes as tears began to roll down your cheeks. You slowly took small steps forward, eyes still closed, hand in hand with Billie Joe. You began to shake as you got closer. Finally reaching your dread you came face to face with your own mother's casket. Lifting a shaky hand you lightly stroked the top of the case and whispered 'I'll miss you.' With that you leaned down kissed the casket and turned to walk back down the aisle. After that you said goodbye to your friends and family, handing out the phone number and address of your new living place, so as they would reach you for whatever reason.

The rest of the week past filled with packing or selling all of your belongings and shipping them to your new apartment. Billie Joe offered to help buy the house in which all your brothers and sisters and you had grown up in but you declined his other and mirly said there are to many memories that will haunt you forever here.

Empty moving boxes and still full moving boxes are everywhere and you and busy putting away groceries you had gotten for your kitchen. Your apartment was spacious and had two bedrooms, one bathroom, a nice living room and a medium sized kitchen. You made one bedroom your and the other was a guest room. Billie Joe still spent every night with you, always sleeping in your bed. You felt safe with him, calm. You were tired from unpacking all day and it was late, you yelled that you were going to bed to Billie Joe who was in the living room unpacking more stuff. He heard this and you heard him stop unpacking a box closing it back up and following you into the bedroom. You both changed and slipped under the covers. Billie Joe snuggled up to your back with one arm around your waist and his chin placed gently upon your shoulder. You both lay there basking in eachother presence. You inhaled deeply smelling Billie Joe's wonderful scent. Then you heard something that you will never forget...
