How I never saw it coming..., chapter 1
June 9,
Today was the last day of 8th grade and I was going to high school next year. I sort of didn't want to get out of school because I will miss Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre'. I had a good day though. We were outside all day. Billie Joe and I grew closer together, and today, we finally confessed...we're in love with each other. He asked me out today, so I asked Jen and Missy what I should say
Jen and Missy: YES!!! How long ago did he ask you?
Me: about a half hour ago
Jen: Well you like him so why didn't you just say yes then?
Me: I don't know!!!
At the time, Missy was going out with Tre'. So Billie Joe and I starting going out. I was so happy to admit I liked him. Tre', for some odd reason was making fun of me.
Me: Jealous?
Tre': Please, like I care who you're going out with.
Me: Then why won't you leave me alone?
I stood there staring a Tre', waiting for an answer for about 5 min.
Me: Well?! I'm waiting.
Tre': It's because...well...I LIKE YOU!!!!!
Then he ran off like a baby. We were all 14 at the time (Missy, Tre', Mike, Billie Joe, Me, and Jen)
I sort of knew that Tre' liked me because we like always flirted. Missy and Jen were the only ones out of all six of us that lived in a different community. Billie Joe, Tre', Mike, and me all lived in the same community. Billie Joe lived right next door to me and Mike and Tre' lived down the street. After Tre' admitted he liked me, he hadn't talked to me all day. Billie and I were by the big hill outside the school. Tre' was trying to play tennis with Missy, and got hit in the head with the ball and hit himself in the balls with the racquet. Billie Joe and I laughed then we looked at each other. I looked into his soft green eyes and he looked into mine. The next thing I knew, we were kissing. It felt weird because I've known Billie Joe since... forever. One of our teachers starting walking over, but Billie Joe and me didn't notice. Tre' was sitting with Missy and they saw Ms. T walking over.
Missy: Tre', we can't let them get caught."
Tre': Well then, what the fuck do you want me to do about it???
Missy: I don't know
Tre': Well that helps... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..thanks
Tre' started chucking pebbles at Billie Joe , but he ignored it. I heard someone walking up behind us so I stopped and looked at Billie Joe again.
Me: Lie down and pretend you're looking at the clouds
Billie Joe: Why?
Me: Look behind me
Then Ms. T walked up slowly and asked what was going on
Ms .T: What were you guys doing?
Billie Joe: Looking at cloud things * cough*
Ms. T: How about before that?
Me: ummmmmm... ... ... ... talking to Missy and Tre'
Ms. T: Oh, okay
When Ms. T walked away, Billie Joe and me ran up the hill and plopped down by Missy and Tre'.
All of a sudden, Jen and Mike came walking up slowly and we all noticed Mike's hair was messier than usual. They sat down next to us.
Tre': What the fuck happened to you people?
Mike: Uummmmmmmmm...cough* Nothing, why?
Missy: 'Because we want to know.
Me: Yea right you guys did nothing!!! Oh yea and a monkey flew out of my ass.
Missy: Oh my god!!!!! Did it hurt??
Me: I was being sarcastic.
Missy: Oh sorry.
We all stared at Missy for 5 min. after that and then Billie Joebroke the silence.
Billie Joe: Um...Who else wants pie????
Okay so back to that Mike and Jen thing. They like broke up a week ago, but they still act like they're going out. Billie Joe, Tre', Missy, and me were like so confused.
Missy: So Alex (me) I see you had a good time with Billie Joe.
I just sat there smiling and then looked at Billie Joe.
Mike: In about 5 min. we will be separated for summer *sadly*
Tre': Well...then...ummm... let's start a rave party!!
We all laughed. The 5 minutes had passed and we were called to our busses.Missy, Tre', me, Billie Joe, Jen, and Mike all locked arms and one by one climbed on the busses. Missy was the first to go. She kissed Tre' and wiped her tears away and walked on her bus. We were all crying except the boys. It was just a really sad day. Next, was Jen. She gave Mike a kiss, but Tre', Billie Joe, and me saw a little tongue. She cried all the way to her bus. I was the only girl left with three other guys. We were the only ones left walking to the busses. We still had our arms locked together though and I was crying so much. We finally got to our bus. I kissed Mike and Tre' on the cheek and they ran to the bus. I hugged Billie Joe and gave him a kiss. I looked into his soft green eyes again, and he smiled. I walked onto the bus and Mike was sitting where I normally sit. Tre', Mike, Billie Joe, and I sat all the way in the back of the bus. I sat with Tre' and Mike normally sat with Billie Joe. But today, Mike let me sit with Billie Joe. Billie Joe sat by the window, and I sat on the outside. Tre' kept poking me with his drumstick.
Tre': Make- out with Billie, Alex.
I looked at Billie Joe and he smiled, so we made-out, but Tre' still wouldn't stop poking me.
Me: Tre' STOP!
Tre': FINE! Jerk!
Billie Joe and me started again, and Mike and Tre' didn't know what to do, so Tre' took out a pack of gummy bears and made two armies. One he ate, the other, he chucked at Billie Joe.
Bus Driver: Tre', STOP THROWING STUFF!!!!
Tre': FUCK YOU!!!!!
Bus Driver: WHAT DID YOU SAY!!!!!???
Tre': I said 'I LOVE DUCKS!!!'
Bus Driver: Oh
Mike: Nice Save
Tre': It's easy; I do it all the time.
We got to the bus stop and Tre', Mike, Billie Joe, and me were the last ones on the bus. We all climbed off the bus, arms locked, and all walked to Billie Joe's mom's car. Mike and Tre' climbed in first, so there was no more room for me. I either had to sit on Mike's or Tre's.
Me: sorry *whispering to Billie Joe*
So I took a seat on Tre's lap. I really hoped there weren't any bumps, because I didn't want to get Tre' turned on and stuff. First, we dropped off Tre' and Mike at Mike's house because Tre's house was being fumigated. My mom wasn't home and I didn't have a spare key, so I went over to Billie Joe's house until my mom came home. Billie Joe went upstairs to change, so I stayed downstairs for a little bit.
I found a note that Billie Joe had dropped so I picked it up and read it. It almost made me scream!!!!
The note said: Billie Joe + Alex Forever
Billie Joe: Alex!!! You can come upstairs now!!
Me: Be right there!!!
I quickly put the note back and ran upstairs. I walked past Billie Joe's older Brother's room and he stared at me. Since Billie Joe was the youngest, he lived in the attic. It was like another floor though. I sat on Billie Joe's bed, right next to him, and we watched some television. I looked into his green eyes again. I wanted to kiss him, but then a strange car pulled up and honked the horn. I thought it was Mike's step-mom or something. Then, when I looked outside, I noticed who it was. I grabbed my stuff, kissed Billie Joe, and ran outside. Billie Joe followed me. The strange car was my mom.
Me: Mom! What happened to the other car????
Mom: It broke down and I couldn't call your step-dad
Hearing 'step-dad' got me furious. Boy, how I hated him. Always yelling at my little brothers when they're only one. Abusive son of a bitch. I don't even see how my mom likes him. My older sister was in the front seat and my two little brothers were in the back. I walked home and stayed in my room talking to my friends on AOL Instant Messenger.
A week after we got out of school, we all went to Jen's house. We packed up our stuff and stayed at Jen's for a whole week because her dad and her brother were in Staten Island. The first day, we walked around in our bathing suits just in case we went swimming in the lake. The whole walk to the lake, me and Billie Joe held hands. He was wearing his black bathing suit and I was wearing my orange bikini. Tre' and Missy were both wearing purple bathing suits. Mike was wearing neon green trunks and Jen was wearing her brown bikini. Tre' came really close to me by accident and he smelt really good.
Me: Tre', you smell good.
Tre': Yea, I smell better than Billie Joe!
Billie Joe: Hey man! I smell better than you!
Jen: Guys! Drop it.
We got to the lake, and we put our stuff down and went to the dock. Mike and Billie Joe were the first ones to get in the freezing cold water.
Billie Joe: Tre', you little chicken shit!
Then, Tre' snuck up behind me and Missy, and pushed us in! Luckily I grabbed him before I fell, so I brought him down with me. He fell on me, and accidentally hit my butt with his foot.
Tre': Sorry! *smiles devilishly*
Mike: Whoa! What just happened when you guys were under?
Tre' and me: Nothing at all.
Billie Joe: Yea right!
Me: Alright! I pulled him in and he accidentally touched my butt.
Tre': With my foot!
Billie: Oh.
Tre' and Billie Joe jumped in at the same time but didn't come out when the rest of us were on the dock. I dove in and swam over to them.
Me: What's wrong?
Billie Joe: Well...we sort of...Lost our shorts.
Tre': Yea, they floated out to the middle of the lake.
Me: Oh...hold on.. stay right here.
Me and Jen grabbed the canoe and paddled out to get their shorts. I gave Billie Joe's back, but I swam around with Tre's and climbed out of the water, naked. He stole his shorts and put them on while I stood their, shocked.
Tre': What's wrong? Am I too sexy for you?
Me: No! How about too small for me! Billie Joe's the sexy one.
*everyone but Tre' laughs*
Tre': I'm no smally, It's...It's...It's just from the cold water!
*Billie Joe looks down his swim trunks*
Billie: Well, mine didn't shrink so it must be Tre' s thing that does it. *everyone laughs*
We then walked home, changed into warm clothes, watched a movie and then went to bed. Jen slept with mike, Missy slept with Tre', and I slept with Billie Joe. We woke up and Mike made breakfast for us. Billie Joe made some cereal. Then we watched the movie again and then we went out. We went to the lake again. We really didn't go swimming, but then we walked back to Jen's to get a bucket to catch frogs in. Then we went to the creek and caught frogs. We brought them to the lake so they didn't die because the creek was almost dried up.
One night at like 1:00 A.M, we went to the lake and I and Billie Joe sat on the dock while everyone else sat on the grass. Billie took off his shoes and socks and then he took off mine. We stuck our feet in the water and let the fish nibble at them. Then I looked over and saw Mike was missing.
Me: Where's Mike?
Billie Joe: I don't know, but Missy, Tre', and Jen are coming over here.
Me: Jen, what happened to Mike?
Jen: I don't know, he said he had to pee but he hasn't come back yet.
All of a sudden, Mike comes running up behind us and pushes us into the ice cold water. Jen grabs his shirt and pulls him in. We didn't get out right away; we all just sat there staring at each other. Everyone got out except me and Billie Joe. I looked into his eyes again and saw the calm water in them. But then Tre' ruined the moment.
Tre': C'mon guys! I'm freezing my balls off * looking at Missy devilishly*
Missy: Whoa! I'm not warming those up. Go find a sink.
Tre': Fine! Jerk!
We got home and got into warm clothes and hung our other ones up outside. We all sat on the couch. I got really close to Billie Joe and tried to keep warm. It was freezing in Jen's house and I was the only one trying to stay warm. That night, we all slept in separate rooms so we could turn the room colder or warmer. The next night we went swimming again, but we brought our bathing suits. I didn't hang out with anyone except Billie Joe that night. It was great. We were the last ones in the water. This was our last night at Jen's house so we caped out outside. We each got our own tents. This night felt different between me and Billie Joe. I saw the look in his eyes when we were lying down in the tent. It looked like he wanted to say something, but he didn't. Me and Billie Joe got done changing and we all sat by the fire and Billie sat really close to me tonight. Billie Joe and Mike went to go pee so I walked over to Jen and talked to her.
Me: Billie Joe has been acting really clingy lately, do you know why?
Jen: I don't know, but when Mike did that, he wanted something... . If you know what I mean.
Me: Did you do it?
Jen: No, but we will...eventually. Are you going to do it?
Me: I'm not sure yet.
Jen: Well follow your heart.
Me: Well I don't know what my heart is saying. I mean I love him, but I don't. know if I could do that yet.
Jen: Well then, wait for the right time.
Me: They're coming back, so I'm going to go.
Jen: Okay, but make sure you do the right thing.
