Runaway Bride, chapter 1

I was so happy, I just couldn't believe it. I know everyone says this, but my wedding day was turning out to be the happiest and most important of my life. As I looked into my new husband, Caleb's, eyes, I just knew I was going to be happy forever. "I love you." he whispered in my ear. I just grinned. We were in the limo on the way to the reception, and I was just dying with anticipation. When we arrived at the hall type thing where the reception was being held, Caleb opened the door and helped me out of the limo. I tried not to faint with excitement as everyone cheered and Caleb and I walked up the plush green grass to the entrance to the hall. Everything was perfect: the blue and purple flowers, tons of food, and everyone I loved there to share it with. I seemed to float on my happiness through the tables, receiving congratulations from everyone along the way. I grinned and thanked them.

Caleb led me to the dance floor, smiling. I didn't know much about the band we had gotten for the reception, but Caleb told me they were supposed to be good.
"Let's make this first one for the bride and groom!" the lead singer said into the microphone with a wink and a smile. He was good-looking, with dark hair, eyeliner, and tight black pants. The band really was good, I noticed as I danced with Caleb. The lead singer and bassist were cute, but it was the drummer that really caught my eye. He was AMAZING, he really knew how to play. He didn't notice me, but I kind of found myself hoping he would. What? I chuckled softly to myself, dismissing this thought as absurd. I was MARRIED now, for God's sake.

I went through dinner, more dancing, and chatting with everyone about the wedding, my dress, and my plans with Caleb. We hoped to buy a house together, and I was starting college in a few months. I couldn't believe how lucky I was. But somehow, I felt a nagging feeling at the back of my mind, like there was something I wasn't thinking about, something that was missing.

The night was ending, I knew, as I returned to the dance floor for the final time.
The lead singer confirmed my suspicions. "Let's make this last song a slow one, shall we?" He raised his eyebrows suggestively. I laughed and wrapped my arms around Caleb, resting my head on his shoulder. The song was over much too soon.
"Thanks a lot, everyone, we're Green Day, and you've been a terrific audience! How about one more congratulations for the bride and groom, Caleb and Cassandra, huh? Let them hear it!" Everyone clapped and whistled, but I wasn't hearing any of it. The drummer was staring at me, and I couldn't seem to help myself from staring back.
The guitarist and bassist went immediately to unplug their equipment, and Caleb went over to talk to them. The drummer, however, left the stage in the direction of the bathrooms. I found myself pulled, as if by an invisible string, after him.

I began to question what I was doing as my heels echoed in the empty, air-conditioned hallway. He was obviously in the bathroom, and what was I going to say to him when he came out? I made up my mind to get out of here before he did. As I began to turn around to go back to the main hall, I heard the door to the men's room creak open. I turned to see him standing there, staring at me. He really was adorable, I realized, with blondish brown hair and blue eyes.
"Uh...hi. I was just...looking for the bathroom." I stumbled over my words, and it was obvious I was lying.
He didn't reply, just continued to stare at me. The thing my mind kept going back to was the fact that the hallway was empty. What was he doing? Then, before I had a chance to think, much less act, he stepped toward me, wrapped his arms around my waist, and kissed me deeply on the mouth. I sighed. Yes, I thought, this was exactly what I wanted. We stayed like that for a few moments, and before I knew what was happening, his hands were reaching for the zipper on the back of my dress. My WEDDING dress. Oh my God, what had I done?

I pushed him away, and began running back towards the main hall. I couldn't believe what had just happened. I had just gotten MARRIED, and the first thing I did was make out with the drummer at my reception. But as I ran, I found myself longing for him to call me back. When he didn't, I turned to look at him. He was still standing there, panting slightly as I was.
I asked him the first question that came to mind. "What's your name?"
"Tre. Tre Cool." he answered me.
I laughed in spite of myself. "No, really. What's your REAL name?"
He stared, unsmiling. He obviously didn't want to tell me. That was fine, I guess I didn't really want to know.
I asked him a second question, this time in a whisper. "Can I kiss you again?" I just had to know how he made me feel this way, as slutty as it made me feel.
He nodded quickly, as if he had been waiting for me to say this. He stepped toward me again, and brought his mouth quickly to mine. He kissed me again and again, and I never wanted it to end, but I pulled away as I ran out of breath.

He took my hand. "Run away with me." He stated simply.
I nodded.
