Lookout! Records was overwhelmed by the sudden demand for Green Day's EP '1000 Hours' so overwhelmed in fact that they had many requests for gig's from Green Day so Larry had asked Green Day to book as many shows as possible. This included high school keg parties, clubs and parties or shows at 'Cal' more formally known as The Berkeley campus of the University of California.
"Are you excited about playing that show at People's Park?" asked Maria looking up at Billie Joe who was sitting on the old sofa tuning 'Blue'
"Yeah! But Ill miss your birthday... Are you sure you can't come?" he looked down at Maria who was sitting Indian style painting her toe nails black
"I told you I cant, my family want me home"
"Yeah.... Can you sneak out then?", Maria giggled
"No Billie Joe I can't!"
"Fine... There done, she's all tuned"
"Cool... " I better go, mum wants me home tonight... She says I have a surprise or something... "
'really? Cool"
"Yeah" and with that Maria screwed on the top of the bottle of nail polish and stood up
"Bye Maria and happy birthday... Ill see you on Sunday"
"Okay BJ" and she walked over to him, pecking his cheek, he smiled
"See you Sunday" Billie Joe smiled and waved as she left the garage.
As soon as Maria stepped through her front door, Tre jumped down to the last stair
"Hi babe!"
"Hey Tre! What are you doing here?"
"I've come for your birthday - duh!"
"Oh okay" she smiled as Tre jumped down to her off the last step and grabbed her in a bear hug... Tre couldn't help but smile.
That night was just like when Tre and Maria were kids. They sat together on the sofa for dinner, watched TV together and were going to have a sleepover together. As Maria set up Tre's makeshift bed Tre got changed, he walked out to find Maria fluffing his pillow
"What are your doing babe?"
"Making you all comfy" she smiled
"But you know I never end up sleeping in it anyway" he grinned, bouncing on Maria's bed
"Yeah... It's a decoy" she winked and got up to change herself "I gotta take a shower too so ill be a little longer" and she stepped out of her room. Tre sat alone on Maria's bed, he hadn't slept (just sleeping no hanky panky to all you dirty minded people) with her since she left for Rodeo. They used to do this all the time when they were kids, preteens and now teens. He laid down on her bed with his head resting on her pillow, he smiled when he smelt her scent... "uhh Tre? What are you doing?" Maria asked coming back into her bedroom drying her hair with the towel and in her pajamas
"You look nice... I was just laying down babe"
"No I don't I'm in my pj's... Always with the compliments Tre" she laughed
"Yeah, always with the compliments... "
"So wanna go to bunk with me?"
"What?" Tre blushed
"Go to bed Tre"
"Oh yeah... ".
