Full Of Rage... Maybe Forever, chapter 3

*1 year later, where Sheena lives*

Ever since Sheena had left her old school, she had never really felt the same. In a way, you could defiantly call her spoiled. She wasn't used to have to start over, without a reputation. Her sister didn't have her popularity that she had once had, so her predicament was the same. Besides, the high school was nowhere near the junior high, so any reputation was out of the question to begin with. And to add to more crap, the school didn't have a solid art and music program. This means, there were no musicals, no talent shows, no special singing classes, or anything of the sort. One more way Sheena became just a face in the crowd.
Nevertheless, her life was golden. She could have made friends, and regained her popularity just like that, if people at her new school were as shallow as they were at her old school. Her father was still head of the bank that he worked at, and her mom was just as involved with her life as ever. Part of Sheena just didn't feel like trying at all. She just wanted to go back to how everything once was. She didn't feel she had to try. She wanted everything to be served to her on a platter.
"MOM! Why can't dad just go back to work in Rodeo? I hate this place."
Her mom would pull her in for a hug.
"I know, but it really isn't that different from what our old town was like. Just try a little harder. For me; please?"
Sheena pulled away from her mom.
"You just don't seem to understand it; no one does." And she turned around and stormed out of the kitchen.
Sheena's mother sighed. She knew that her two daughters had been spoiled, and neither were ready for them to start over from scratch. She sat down at the table, and picked up Sheena, and Maradith's report cards, and looked at them. Their grades had dropped dramatically; more Maradith's than Sheena's, though. How could she convince her daughters that life and grades were more important than social status? They used to be an ideal family, she wasn't going to deny it. What happened to them?
Her watch alarm clock shook her out of her thoughts. She had to go to a community club meeting. Just then, Sheena's father walked in the kitchen.
"Well," she said, "I have to go to my meeting. Do you mind cooking dinner tonight?"
"'Course not." He said, and she left the kitchen, got in her car, and drove away.

Sheena, Maradith, and their father were sitting around the table, when the phone rang.
"I'll get it, you two." Her father said as he got up and answered the phone.
As Sheena and her sister continued eating, they silently listened to their father on the phone.
"Oh my God. - Are you sure? - Ok- Yeah- I'll be there."
Sheena and Maradith exchanged confused and worried glances. As their father hung up the phone, and walked solemnly over to the table, Maradith spoke up.
"Who was that daddy?"
He put his hands on the back of his chair, and took a deep breath.
"Girls, you mother was in a car accident."
Both of the girls gasped.
"Well, what happened? Is she ok?" Sheena prodded her father.
He shook his head.
"She- didn't... ... make it." He said between tears of his own.
All three of them broke down and sobbed together. It was just so sudden. Their father pulled both of them into a hug, but nothing could make Sheena feel better. The last time she talked to her mom, she had picked a fight with her. Why had she been so selfish? Why had she always looked for attention? Why hadn't she realized how lucky she was, before now?
In a total of about 3 seconds, Sheena vowed to never act that way again. In her mind, she almost decided to just stop talking all together. Maybe not so much, but something like that. She realized how much she loved her mother, and didn't want to end up feeling this way when one day she lost everyone.

*Back to Rodeo, where Billie Joe is*

After awhile, the embarrassment towards Billie Joe and Sheena had died down, and eventually, disappeared all together. Jane had kept her hatred towards Billie Joe, but one day in English changed all of that.
Jane and Billie Joe were paired together on a poem booklet project.
"Ok," Jane approached him when they started working, "all I have to say to you is, number one, don't give me any shit, or rude remarks, or I will purposely make us fail. Number two, you are sooo pulling your own weight. There is no way I am going to do all the work. And number three-"
"Ok, shut up. Little do you know I happen to like to write, so don't worry about that. And besides, there is no way you would purposely fail this. You're too good. You don't have the balls."
"I take that as a compliment. Of course, it isn't like you have them either. You couldn't stand up for yourself, so you had to start some stupid rumor about Sheena, because you weren't smart enough to handle it like a man."
Billie Joe raised his voice.
"You're a fuckin' hypocrite! You're the ones who started the whole fucking thing. I had the balls to do something about it, and stand up to her."
"OOOO big whoop Billie Joe, you had the balls to stand up to a girl! Does that make you feel like a man? Do you feel better now that you made a really nice girl cry?!"
She didn't know what she was talking about. Sheena had caused him more pain than she would ever know, or find out in that case. Either way, Billie Joe was speechless.
"She was a fuckin' bitch to me!"
"Billie Joe, Jane! Principal's office right now!" they heard the teacher scream at them.
They both gave each other an angry glare, and stalked out of the room without another word.

After the principal got done yelling at the two of them, they were given two weeks of after school detention, which they both agreed was pretty harsh.
"Man this sucks." Billie Joe said, not purposely trying to start a conversation, but it just came out. Jane gave him a look of confusion, but he didn't look back, and silently waited for a reply. She figured she might as well make the best of a bad situation.
"I'll say. Two weeks of scrubbing the graffiti off of the gym walls. This really, really sucks."
"Yeah, and this bucket is getting heavy." Jane turned to her left to see Billie Joe carrying a bucket full of water in his right hand. Jane rolled her eyes.
"Give me a break. Here, let me carry it." Billie Joe turned and gave her a strange look.
"Are you saying you are going to do something nice for me?"
"O please. No, I am just going to show you that you are weak."
Billie Joe thought about it for a moment. He eventually nodded his head, and sat the bucket down.
"Works for me."
Jane wasn't expecting this.
"O. Ok." And Billie Joe smirked a little, as he watched her pick up the bucket. Surprisingly, though, she did it with almost no effort at all.
"Damn you're strong." Jane quirked a small smile over to him.
"Was that supposed to be a compliment of something?"
Billie Joe shrugged.
"I dunno. I just felt like saying it."

Once they got to the gym, they started scrubbing. While they were, they figured if they talked, time would go by faster. They talked about random things, and the only thing they could really agree about was music. Billie Joe had never realized how different Jane was from the rest of the girls. She just seemed to always hide how different she was. Of course, she had always dressed different, but that was just because she liked to express herself that way. The more Billie Joe thought about it, the more he didn't understand why she had to act so much like Sheena and all of the other girls. For some reason it bothered him so much, that finally, he brought it up.
"Hey Jane?"
"Yeah?"
"Why don't you act like what you really are in school? Like when you are around other people. I mean, you dress different, and don't follow the crowd there, but you do everything else that the crowd does. Like, I have never known you liked all the stuff I do, and I never thought I would admit to myself that I have a lot in common with you. Was it like Sheena or something? I mean, was she that shallow to make you change yourself-"
Jane held up her hand.
"Wait, Billie Joe. Stop right there. Sheena is my best friend, and just because in your mind, and probably everyone else's, she is rich, doesn't mean she is a snob. I mean, you never even talked to her, and you just assumed that she was stuck up. It isn't her fault that her sister is a bitch, and she is the one who is popular because she is stuck up. Sheena just tries really hard, and she was gifted with a beautiful voice. You should have really given her a chance, and don't say that she started all of the rumors, because that may be true, but you were the one who influenced her to do it, 'cuz she is actually the nicest person I have ever met, and now I don't even have the best friend who was the only one who did accept my opinion, and my personality."
Jane then picked up her rag, and went to the other end of the gym and started scrubbing the wall. Billie Joe's mouth was agape. He hadn't expected her to just freak out like that. It was like she had planned the whole thing. Maybe she was just gifted; gifted in speech or something like that. Either way, it never dawned on Billie Joe how strong, physically, emotionally, and mentally she was. She was almost more opinionated than Mike.
Billie Joe walked over to her, and stood behind her for a minute.
"I know this will sound really corny and all, but I'll accept you... ... ... ... ... . Ok that was extremely corny."
Jane laughed and turned around to face him.
"Thank you. And uhhh sorry I got all freaky on you. My dad was a public speaker."
"Oooo I get it. It's ok." And for a moment, he looked into her dark brown almost black eyes. Something in his stomach flipped. She was just so perfect. He had never met a girl like her, and he was sorry for any fowl word he had ever said to her. He had never, in his life, felt this way before. In a way, it scared him. Before he knew what happened, BOTH of them, leaned in for a small kiss. Once they pulled away, Jane bit her bottom lip and smiled. Then she turned around, and got back to cleaning. Billie Joe got back to it as well.
"Billie Joe, could you hand me that other rag?"
"Sure."
Billie Joe picked up the rag out of the bucket, and didn't wring it out much, and without looking threw it at Jane. He heard her gasp. He turned his head to see red watery paint across her face, that had apparently splattered all over her when he threw it. Billie Joe started laughing hysterically as he looked at her mouth wide open, and her eyes pressed shut. She couldn't help but smile. She quickly wiped her eyes, and wrung out her bluish paint covered rag over his head.
