Baby You Can Drive My Car, chapter 3
"Listen Layla, I know this is really sudden, but I-"
"WHAT?! You can't leave! You can't leave, I mean what about getting ready for the tour with the guys and going to see monster trucks with Frankito and this is the only time I get to see you until you go back on tour and -"
"Then you can come with me on tour!" Tre exclaimed hurriedly.
When Layla heard that last sentence, her skipped a beat. Did he really mean that? Or did he just say that to get out of this whole conversation. She knew she was being selfish in the fact that she wanted Tre to herself, but if he wasn't up to even telling her what was going, it must not be that big of a deal. He was always an open and honest person. Why would that change now? No. She was lying to herself. She knew that this was a big deal and that she shouldn't be forcing things on Tre, but she really did want Tre to stay.
"...you really want me to go with you?" Layla asked shyly.
"Of course! I love you and I want you to be with me! Plus Billie has Adrienne come on tour with him, and since this is overseas we will have more romantic crap to do!" Tre explained with a smile.
He always did have a way of looking at the bright side of things. Layla grinned, she was so happy. Tre actually wanted to make this thing work. She didn't know what to say or how to respond with out feeling silly so she just hugged him.
"I guess you agree then?" Tre asked, he felt her small head nod against his collarbone. He sighed in relief in his head. He didn't think she would want to, but now that he knew she would happily join him, he had one less problem to deal with.

Layla had offered to give Tre a ride to the airport, but he told her to stay back and tell the guys. He said he would be back in a couple of days and not to worry. Tre didn't really believe that Layla would keep her cool, he knew her more than he should and he could tell that she was dying inside. Guilty as charged, Tre wanted to stay with Layla. Be in her arms, but the situation that Lisa had described to him, he needed to be with her and not to mention Ramona.
When Tre got to Lisa's, he never realized how big of a house that it actually was. It was a mansion, why would they need a mansion for only two people? Tre didn't know, but he had more important things to do so he walked up the narrow path way and banged on the door.
It took a couple minutes before some one answered the door and to his surprise it wasn't Lisa, but another man. A man that he had never seen before in his life. His hair was all messy and he looked like he had just put on a shirt and he was in his boxers. Tre felt anger rise through his veins. Lisa actually had the nerve to have sex right when she pleaded for his help! The little slut!
"What do you want?" The man looked confused and his voice was rugged.
"Who the fuck are you?!" Tre blurted out.
"Hey man, where do you get off? I'm Lisa's fiancé," the way he said it sounded so snobby and Tre felt a ton of bricks just landed on him. Lisa was engaged?! He never even knew she had a boyfriend at the time, what the fuck! A million thoughts were racing though Tre's mind. How could he have been so blind? And why was he feeling so jealous and shocked? He hated this feeilng, he was never a jealous person, but in his heart he still loved Lisa.
Tre shook off his dazed thoughts and said, "well I am in her ex husband so move out of the way."
Tre tried to get through, but he realized that this guy was way stronger and taller than him. What had he gotten himself into? Tre thought. Suddenly his frustration rised to the next level as he decided to shout Lisa's name, angrily. This "fiancé" guy had his arm against the doorway, blocking Tre's way. They eyed each other with pure hatred before Lisa and her scattered self came down the stairs and shouted for Tre to come in.
"David let Tre in!" Lisa didn't seem to show any emotion, but truthfully when did she ever?
Tre felt like laughing. What kind of a name is David anyway? Whatever, he pushed "David's" arm away from the doorway has he entered the house more than horrified at what he just encountered.
"Where is Ramona?!" this was all Tre wanted to know. Lisa felt her anxiety turn back on. Why was he making this so difficult?
"She's not here," Lisa finally said sighing.
Tre had a puzzled look on his face, "well...where is she? What happened?"
"....she....ran away....," Lisa let the words slip away from her lips as slowly as she could so she didn't have to repeat them.
"WHAT?! Did you call the police?! Oh my god, why did she run away?!"
"Stop berating me with all these fucking questions and I will tell you!" Lisa snapped. David had closed the front door now and was leaning against the wall trying to figure out these two types.
Tre felt like he was going to break down right then and there. He didn't think that it was that serious and the thought of never hugging or seeing Ramona again gave him chills up his spine.
"I had told her that David and I were engaged," Lisa began coldy, "...she flipped! She started going crazy and then she locked herself in her room and the next time I saw her...I never did...I called the police, but they are out searching for her right now. I panicked so I called you, but now...I don't know what to do!" Lisa began to sob in her hands as David came up to her and comforted her. Tre rolled his eyes at their affection for each other and felt his blood run cold as the thought of never seeing Ramona again surfaced through him.
"Well what do you expect to happen, Lisa? You date and get engaged to a complete douche bag and of course she is going to be pissed!"
"Don't insult my fiancé or my life, Tre! You don't even know your own daughter anyway!" Lisa hissed. He felt a pang of hurt knock him down as David smiled sneakily. What the fuck had he come here for? To deal with this shit?
"Fuck this! Fuck you! And fuck your little fucking engagement thing! I came here to be with Ramona and she isn't even here because of your poor parenting skills!" Tre shouted his temper rising with each word he had spat out. Lisa didn't get a chance to reply to Tre's angry outburt, because Tre had run out the door and slammed it shut.
"Forget him honey, he doesn't care," David said, but Lisa felt anything but that.

Tre was walking down the streets trying to understand or have an inch of an idea where Ramona might be. Lisa was right. He didn't know his own daughter. He felt a wave of shame and guilt wash over him and drowning him. He didn't know what to do. He didn't want to call Layla and get her even more stressed. He didn't want to call the guys, he thought maybe his dad might understand.
Tre went to a payphone and dialed his father's number, he heard the phone ring a few times before he heard his dad's voice say "hello" and Tre felt relief creep in his mind.
"Dad. Something happened with Ramona," Tre decided to cut to the chase.
"What do you mean? What happened?"
"She ran away! We can't find her and now Lisa is getting engaged to some douche and I am just so confused, I don't know what to do!" Tre felt a sob threaten to burst any minute now.
"I'm sure she is fine Tre. She's probably at a friends, she's a smart girl she knows what she's doing. She'll find a way back, I know it," his voice was calm and peaceful, like he knew where she was or something. Somehow Tre didn't exactly want to give into this logic.
"I just get images in my head that I will never see her again and I lo-"
"That's normal son, Ramona is going to be fine. Just relax."
"But dad! Dad?" And that was the end of the conversation. It seemed that he had hung up on him, but Tre soon learned that the phone went dead, because of it's level of crap at working. He slammed the receiver a few times into the phone before trying to find inner calm.
Who was he kidding? He was anything, but calm. He wanted Ramona in his arms and he wanted her to be okay. He wanted to know why this had to happen. He felt his world shatter around him and all he wanted was to hear little Ramona's voice saying "daddy."

Layla had just gotten off the phone with Mike about Tre's little "situation" and that he wouldn't be back until a few days. She was all ready missing him. He had just left yesterday and she felt the emptiness of his presence gone. Why did she always feel like this? It was tearing her apart and she wanted to stop being such a drama queen that was too clingy
She was rummaging through some books when the thought crossed her mind. What HAD happened to Ramona? Was she okay? She had never met Ramona and she was scared of knowing what she was like. If she hated her or not. She came across a photo album. She smiled, she didn't know Tre kept photos! She opened it up and saw pictures of him and guys goofing off. She laughed at Tre's consumption of alcohol in one of them.
All of a sudden she heard the door bell ring. It made Layla jump a bit at first, but she placed the photo album down and made her way to the main hall towards the front door. She wondered who would be there. Was it Tre possibly? No.
When she opened the door she almost jumped out of her own skin at the pure shock of who it was. Ramona. Just standing there. Alone.
"WHAT?! You can't leave! You can't leave, I mean what about getting ready for the tour with the guys and going to see monster trucks with Frankito and this is the only time I get to see you until you go back on tour and -"
