A New Beginning, chapter 1
O.k. first of I'm gonna mess around with the ages of Billie's, Mike's and Tre's children. O.k. so Joseph is gonna be 15 and Jakob is still gonna be 10. Estelle is gonna be 14. Ramona is gonna be 15 as well and Frankito is gonna be 10. Yes I know that the ages are way different for some of them then in real life but the ages will work itself out in the story. Anyways. I hope you enjoy it. Oh ya and Melissa is also 15.
***Melissa's POV*** (In Saskatchewan)
"NO! NO YOU CAN'T MAKE ME! THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY I'M LEAVING EVERYTHING BEHIND TO GO AND MOVE TO BERKELEY CAUSE YOU GOT TRANSFERED! NO FUCKING WAY! NO I REFUSE! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME!" I screamed at the top of my lungs to my parent. My mom got transferred to Berkeley and my dad got a job there now too. The let my brother decide if he wanted to move with us or get an apartment because he is 18 and legally an adult now.
"Melissa just shut up and pack you shit. We have to leave tomorrow." my mom said to me getting a little agitated cause of the fact that I was acting like a fucking 5 year old.
"James doesn't have to come!" I said in protest.
"Ya well James is an adult and he is getting an apartment so shut up and pack you shit!" my mom said now really getting pissed off. She shut my door and I continued to pack up my stuff. I couldn't believe this was happening. I had to break up with my boy friend, leave all my friends behind and leave all my memories behind in the house that I grew up in. I still had my phone plugged in. I picked it up and as a reflex dialed Jackson's number.
"Hey." said a groggy voice from the other end of the line.
"Hey Jackson. I just thought I would call you before I left. I'm leaving tomorrow." I said tears welling up in my eyes still from the conversation we had yesterday that ended our relationship 1 week before our 1 year anniversary.
"Oh ya that's right. Hey I have something I wanna give you. I was gonna give it to you for our anniversary but seeing as we're not going to have one well..." he said but started to trail off.
"I know it's gonna be hard but we can still be good friends. I mean that whole long distance relationship shit would run up a hell of a phone bill." I said looking around my room noticing that I still hadn't packed my guitar.
"Ya I know. We'll keep in touch with e-mail and I'll call you at least once a week." he said sounding really sweet.
"O.k. well I have to get back to packing." I said sounding really depressed from not wanting the phone call to end.
"O.k. well I'm gonna swing by your place then and drop of you gift. I'll see ya in a few k?"
"O.k. see ya then." and with that we hung up. I then called all my friends and said within the next 2 weeks I would call them when I was settled in. I went over to my guitar. It was my baby. I picked it up and placed it in its bag. Just then I heard the door bell ring. I shot up and answered the door. It was about 10:30 p.m. or so so it was dark out. He stepped in holding and oddly shaped box wrapped in neon wrapping paper.
"Here you go. I hope you like it." he said passing me the box.
"Why don't we go up to my room. Then we can visit for a bit." I suggested as I walked up the stairs to my room and he followed. I sat on the floor since my bed was now in the moving truck. There was only a change of clothes, a pillow and some blankets left unpacked. I sat down and slowly unwrapped the box. To my surprise it was a barn new guitar. It was a fender, just like the one I had now except this one was a light blue and white guitar and my other one was a deep blue and white one. When I bought it I couldn't decide which one to get.
"OMG Jackson. Thank you sooo much." I said as I flung my arms around his neck and gave him a peck on the cheek. "Oh umm... now were did I put your gift. Oh here it is." I said as I pulled out a small box. I gave it to him and he opened it. It was a silver I.D bracelet. Engraved in it was his name and a message that read 'With lots of love. I will never forget you and I hope you don't forget me. Melissa.'
"Oh thank you so much. But how did you know to put that message on it if you just found out you were moving last week?" he asked still amazed by his gift. He had always wanted one.
"Well I get it done the day after I found out." I explain. We just sat there in the room talking about old times before we were going out. It was now 11 o'clock and Jackson had to leave cause I was leaving at 6 a.m. the next day. So we got up and walked to the front door which brought back a hilarious memory. On our first date he went to give me a good night kiss and I was leaning up against the door and he went to kiss me and my older brother thought it would be hilarious to open to door on us. So he opens the door and I fall backwards into the house with Jackson on top of me.
"Thank you sooo much for the new guitar Jackson. I'll always think of you when I play it." I said.
"Ya thanks for the bracelet I'll always wear it." he said. Then we shared one last kiss before he left.
***5 a.m. the next day***
Ahh fuck. It's so early.
"Come on Melissa get your ass in gear. We need to be on the road by 6 so we can actually make it there tomorrow afternoon." yelled my mom to me. I quickly got dressed and did my makeup. I ran downstairs and had some breakfast. My other guitar was now in the truck but the one I got last night I took it with me in the car. I decided to ride in the car instead of the moving truck. I had my backpack and everything spread around the backseat of the car as we took off about half an hour earlier then planed. I had my guitar on the floor and I was lying down sleeping. When I woke up my aunty was in the front seat of the car so my uncle must have been in the truck. They had relatives in Berkeley and we coming with us so we could drive straight threw the night. It was now 10 a.m. and there was no hope in hell that I was gonna get back to sleep now. I grabbed my backpack and rummaged through it for a bit until I found my c.d. player and my American Idiot c.d. I just sat there listening to my music staring out the window. I must have listened to all my Green Day c.d.'s and it was only 3:30 p.m. My aunty was sleeping so she would be able to drive tonight. I sat there bored out of my mind when I saw the guitar sitting on the floor. I picked it up and took it out of its case and started just playing random chords that popped into my head. Then I dug into it's case and found the tabs for platypus (I hate you) and started playing. I was actually quite good at it but it sounded funny without the amp. I got tired of playing that song so I started to play Holiday and then First date by Blink 182. After that I just sat there looking out of the window again thinking about all my friends. We went to a restaurant and got some supper then piled back into the vehicles and switching drivers. I read my book for a bit and then fell asleep around 10 o'clock or so. I was really tired and I didn't wake up till around noon. When I woke up I saw all these big fancy houses and then the truck pulled into the driveway of one of them. How could we afford this house I thought but pushed that thought away and started unloading my stuff.
***Joseph's POV***
"Hey dad it looks like we have new neighbors." I said. I noticed a brunet about 5 foot 4 or so and she looked around my age so I decided to go and say hi. I walked over to her while she was unloading a guitar which looked a lot like my dads guitar 'Blue' except this one didn't have stickers. "Hey. I guess you new to the neighbor hood." I said trying to make small talk.
