A New Beginning, chapter 10
***Joey's POV***
It's now Tuesday and Melissa's 'time of the month' is over, thank god. We were walking home from school when we noticed two people sitting on the front porch of Melissa's house.
"Oh my god! Justin, Brendan. Is that you!?!" she screamed as she ran over to who I'm guessing is Justin. He picked her up and twirled her around. He then set her down and gave her a peck on the cheek as I was walking towards them. When I saw that I felt a pang of jealousy run threw me and I didn't like it one bit.
"Who's he?" Justin asked nodding in my direction.
"Oh he's my boyfriend Joey. Joey this is Justin and Brendan. Two of mine and my brother's closest friends." she said pointing to each of them in turn.
"Hey." both of them said in unison.
"Hey Brendan." I said as I shook his hand and I just gave Justin and icy cold stare and walked away.
"Joey!" Melissa screamed as she caught up to me. "What the fuck is your problem!?!"
"My problem? You were the one that just went and kissed another fucking guy!" I screamed back.
"First of all he kissed me. On the cheek only. And second he's a friend nothing more!" she screamed back at me.
"Are you sure, cause you seemed pretty fucking happy when he kissed you!"
"I haven't fucking seen him since I moved and I wasn't expecting to see him so sor-fucking-ry!" she yelled back. "When you realize that Justin is just a fucking friend and nothing else I can't see you so goodbye." she said almost in a whisper. She was looking so upset. What the fuck have I done? Everything was perfect.
I walked into the house and slammed the door and then went to my room and slammed the door again.
"Hey Joey what's wrong?" I heard mom call from the kitchen.
"Don't wanna talk about it." I called back.
"Where's Melissa?" mom asked.
"At her house." I said as I flopped onto my bed.
I was just lying on my bed staring up at the pictures of her I had on my wall. All I could think about was her and then the lyrics for "2000 Light Years Away" started going threw my head.
Maybe I should try calling her. I thought to myself as I picked up the telephone. I dialed her number and someone picked up and then hung up again.
"Fuck." I mumbled to myself as I dialed her number again. This time someone picked up. It was a guy. "Hello. This is Joey can I talk to Melissa?" I asked.
"Hey Mel its Joey. You wanna talk to him?" I heard the voice say.
"Just tell him to go and F.O.D. He'll know what it means." she called back.
"She says to go and F.O.D." I heard him say and he hung up.
"Fuck!" I screamed as I hung up the phone. There was a knock at my door. "Come in." I mumbled.
"Hey Joey. What happened?" dad asked as he sat on the edge of my bed.
"What makes you think anything happened?" I asked sitting up.
"Well for starters Melissa isn't here and she's telling you to F.O.D." he said.
"Dad! You were listening to our conversation!"
"I needed to use the phone and I picked it up and you were on it." he said in his defense.
"O.k. well whatever. Me and her got into a fight cause an old friend that happens to be a guy came and I get jealous and she said that I didn't trust her." I said as dad sat there thinking this over.
"Well I had to write a shit load of songs for your mom when we got in an argument once. Just write her a song." he suggested.
"But I can't write songs like you. My songs sound so cheesy." I complained. "Can I use one of yours?"
"O.k. just none of Tre's songs cause then it just might make thinks worse." dad said while leaving the room. I sat there for about an hour think about what one I should do. I finally decided on 'The One That I Want' but she wouldn't talk to me so I had to figure out how to get her to listen to it.
"Joey, supper!" mom called up the stairs.
"Not hungry!" I called back.
"Joey you have to eat something!" she called back.
"Fine." I said getting up. I went down stairs and grabbed a piece of bread that was on the table and shoved it in my mouth. "There, I ate something." I mumbled threw my full mouth as I went upstairs.
"Joey. You're eating supper so sit down. Just have like, a salad or something I don't care, just eat something." mom complained. I filled my plate with some salad and ate it and run upstairs.
"Now how am I going to get her to listen to the song?" I said to myself as I sat back down on my bed. I suddenly noticed my video camera sitting on my desk. Then I got and idea. I set up my video camera and started to play 'The One That I want'. When I was finished I wrote "To Melissa, please take me back" on top of the tape. I then grabbed my wallet and ran to the store which was about a 20 minute walk. When I get there I got a dozen red roses and a giant teddy bear. I know it's cheesy but I'll do anything to get her back. I then went back home and called from my cell phone so she wouldn't recognize the number.
"Hello?" I head some answer.
"Hey. Justin?" I asked.
"Ya. Who's this?"
"It's Joey."
"Oh hey man. Look I'm sorry if I messed up your relations ship with Mel... " he started to say but I cut him off.
"No man. You didn't mess it up I did. So ya I'm sorry for being jealous of you. Are we cool?" I asked.
"Ya man were cool. I was just gonna apologise to you." he said.
"Hey could you do me favor?" I asked.
"Well if it can be done within the next 10 minutes sure cause me and Brendan are leaving for a concert soon." he said.
"Oh ya I just need you to open the basement window for me cause I have to get in."
"O.k. but Melissa went to like the park or something like that." he said.
"Oh that's even better cause I wanna surprise her." I said.
"O.k. will do. I'll open the window before me and Brendan leave." he said.
"Kay well I better go. So ya thanks for helping me out man." I said.
"Ya no problem." he said before hanging up.
They left almost right away. As soon as they were gone I took the tape off of my dresser and took the roses and teddy bear I had bought and went over to her house and snuck in through the window. I ran up to her room and put the tape in her VCR and took the remote.
As soon as I did that she came home. I ran into the bathroom and waited until she was in her room. When she was I pressed play and she turned around and watched to tape. As soon as it was over I walked into her room holding the roses and teddy bear.
"So will you take me back? I called Justin and everything is cool." I said as I handed her the gifts. She flung her arms around me and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Of cores I'll take you back. I hated being in a fight with you." She said into my shoulder.
I didn't know it at the time but she was soon gonna get a phone call that would change her life.
We sat and talked for a bit and then started making out. After about an hour of that Brendan called.
"Hey Brendan what's up?" she asked. I don't know what happened but her face suddenly fell.
"Oh my god! He can't be. He just can't." she said before breaking into tears.
"What is it?" I asked.
"It's Justin... ..He's been... ... .."

"It's Joey."
"Oh hey man. Look I'm sorry if I messed up your relations ship with Mel... " he started to say but I cut him off.
"No man. You didn't mess it up I did. So ya I'm sorry for being jealous of you. Are we cool?" I asked.
"Ya man were cool. I was just gonna apologise to you." he said.
"Hey could you do me favor?" I asked.
"Well if it can be done within the next 10 minutes sure cause me and Brendan are leaving for a concert soon." he said.
"Oh ya I just need you to open the basement window for me cause I have to get in."
"O.k. but Melissa went to like the park or something like that." he said.
"Oh that's even better cause I wanna surprise her." I said.
"O.k. will do. I'll open the window before me and Brendan leave." he said.
"Kay well I better go. So ya thanks for helping me out man." I said.
"Ya no problem." he said before hanging up.

"Of cores I'll take you back. I hated being in a fight with you." She said into my shoulder.
I didn't know it at the time but she was soon gonna get a phone call that would change her life.
We sat and talked for a bit and then started making out. After about an hour of that Brendan called.
"Hey Brendan what's up?" she asked. I don't know what happened but her face suddenly fell.
"Oh my god! He can't be. He just can't." she said before breaking into tears.
"What is it?" I asked.
"It's Justin... ..He's been... ... .."
