Walking Alone, chapter 1

She layed on her bed looking at the ceiling. She was the average, normal female teenager. "What is normal anyways?" She thought to herself. "I am definately not normal. Is THAT why I haven't met that one person yet?" Adrienne knew just what would cheer her up. Writing. She would write about anything and everything. She was all set to start up a new story when her mom knocked at the door. She should have seen it coming. It was twelve-thirty. The mailman always came at twelve-thirty.
"Honey, the mail's here"
"Okay mom, I got it!"
She climbed up from her bed to the living room to fetch her mail. She almost always got mail every day. She was a pen-pal. They would keep in contact as much as possible. She loved writing to him. He was very interesting. He was interested in many of the same things she was, but they were different and that's what kept Adrienne writing. He had a funny name too in Adrienne's opinion. It was his nickname for a while now. If she thought back to a previous letter, she remembered his real name. Frank. He definately did not sound like a Frank. He was his new name and it fit him perfectly.

Dear Frank,

Ha! I remembered your name. So, what have you been up to lately? I have been bored out of my mind all day. I have nothing to do, so naturally I started writing. Then, your letter came. I have yet to read it however. Pathetic, I know. Well, write back, I'm looking forward to it!

-Adrienne

Her letters were normally longer, but today was memorial day and her family was having a barbeque. Everyone was invited: family, freinds, their freinds, etc. She made her way outside where a few people were showing up. "Where is my mom?" she thought. Then, she spotted her across the yard. "Hey mom! Do you know when Billie Joe said he was going to show up?"
"He said soon, but who knows when that is"
"Okay, thanks"
Adrienne went back to her spot near the door to see if anyone else was coming. She noticed some family freinds coming up. They have known this family forever, or at least as long as Adrienne could remember. They were the Pritchards. The two brothers, Mike and Jared didn't treat Adrienne so well in the past. They have ingnored her and have been completely rude to her the other times.
"Well hello Adi honey!" Mrs. Pritchard said.
"Hello. Nice you could come. Have fun" She said with a smile after a hug. "Hey" Adrienne greeted the brothers as they walked passed. Mike was leading, of course, he was older. Mike was Jared's hero. He wanted to be just like his big brother. When she greeted them, they acted like she said nothing. Though, Mike looked at her and gave half a smile.
"Well, at least it's a start" Adreinne thought with a slight mumble.
She spotted a familiar face walking up to the house.
"Ahhh!" She yelled while running up to give her best freind a hug. "You made it"
"My family's not doing a damn thing,so thank-god you invited me!" said Billie Joe.
"We do have enough food you know" She said with a wink.
"That's good" he said and then giggled, "So, how was your day?"
"I've been bored as hell"
"Did you write"
"Yes! Why does everybody ask that?!?"
"It's true isn't it?" Billie Joe said, raising his eyebrows.
"Yes.........but that's beside the point!" She finished in a laugh. "Let's go inside"

They were best freinds. He was like a concience, her guide. When she ran into trouble, he'd be ther for her. They'd sit in her room often for hours at a time just talking. She had asked herself before if he is the one. BUt in her mind, she knew he didn't feel the same. "Besides, we're just freinds" she thought. Sometimes, she wanted to be loved and appretiated. Not like a mother, but someone else. Sometimes she wondered if that would ever happen.
