A Lucky Bet, chapter 5
"Alright, see yah later BJ. bye Meg!' Tre said
Tre and Mike both walked out the front door and down the driveway, Billie wacthed them walk away, and then closed the door. He came walking towards me and signaled me to have a seat in the living room.
"How come your not gonna tell them? I mean, they're your best friends." I asked confused.
"I dont know, Mike would probably try to take over and Tre would make it a joke, knowing them. Somtimes i gotta do things by myself. I mean, just cause we're in a band, that doesnt mean we have to tell each other everything." Billie replied.
Billie came over and sat next to me on the couch and faced toward me.
"How old are you again?" he asked
"I'm 18, going on 19, why?"
"Oh, just wondering" he looked at me and moved in a little closer.
Knowing him, I knew where this was going, so I quickly got up and walked towards the door.
"Umm, I need to go, my mom wakes up at 3 and I dont wanna get caught." I explanned.
"Oh, alright, well, I'll see you later then." Billie got up and walked me to the door. As I walked out the front door and down the driveway, I told myself not to look back. But for some reason I did it anyway, I looked back, and there he was smiling at me.' What was I doing! Looking back! After all those lifetime movies I use to wacth with my mom, I still looked back! Your never suppose to look back!!'
I thought. I turned around quickly and walked away franticlly. As I turned onto my block, I saw ambulence lights and heard sirens. I saw that It was coming from my house!! I ran as fast as I could, trying not to trip over myself.
"Whats going on!!?" I screamed
"Do you live here?" A near by police man asked.
"Yes, yes! I do, my mom's in there!" I looked up at my house, and..it was on fire, I could hear my mom screaming from the upstairs, I heard her...
"Meghan! Meghan where are you!? Meghan!!?"
My mom was looking for me... she thought I was still in bed, She thought that I was still a sleep in my bed! She didnt know that I left and was out all night! My mom was in there, because of me!
"One of the firemen tried to get her down, but she was looking for a girl named Meghan." the officer added" Do you know who Meghan is?"
"... I... I'm Meghan"
