Basket Case, chapter 4
Adrienne zoomed down the road in her car, passing the hospital completely. She had somewhere else to go first.
"Hey, Adrienne?" Tré started. "You know, the hospital was right back up there."
"I know." She replied, absent mindedly. "We have to go and get Jason, don't we?"
She pulled up in front of his house, and got out of the car.
"Adie? Where are you going?" Mike asked.
"I have to.....see him for a minute." She said, still not paying them her complete attention. Mike and Tré looked at one another, clueless.
Adrienne walked down Jason's driveway. Something she had got used to doing. Jason saw her walking up to the door, and he opened it before she got there.
"Adie?" He asked. "What are Tré and Mike doing here?"
"I need to talk to you. Inside." She said, looking at him pointedly.
"O-Kay......" He said, led her in and shut the door behind her.
"Jason." She began, once the door was shut. "Something happened. Billie woke up. the doctors think he's better now."
"Oh......"
"Yes. Oh. So. We need to finish this. What we're doing. It wasn't right in the first place, I was just lonely, and you LET me............." She trailed off. Jason put his arms around her.
"Shhhh it's okay."
"No, it's not okay!!!!! How can you say this is okay?????" She wailed into his chest.
Jason gently pushed her face up so she was looking at him. He looked her in the eyes, and leaned in to kiss her. She let him, for a moment, kissing him back, then pushed him away violently. "Jason, stop it, not now, we have to stop this. Please. I don't love you. I love Billie, and now he's awake, and...........oh god what if he finds out..........?"
"But I love you" Jason mumbled, looking at his feet.
"Jason! No, you don't! Look, we just have to stop this. Now. You don't want to hurt one of your best friends, do you? So are you coming to the hospital with us or not? Come on."
Jason nodded, then shook his head, unsure of what to do, then opened the door for her. Then he followed her out, and got in the car.
Tré and Mike looked up when he got in.
"Hey, Jason" They both said. Jason nodded, and kept looking at Adrienne. Tré and Mike again looked at each other, confused. Adrienne turned the car around, and headed back up to the hospital. She hoped to God that Jason wouldn't let anything slip that she had been sleeping with him. She was ashamed of it, she hated herself for it, but she couldn't stop, but she hoped now that Billie was awake everything would be better.
"Hey, Adrienne?" Tré started. "You know, the hospital was right back up there."
