Strange Things Are Happening, chapter 14
Mike and Tre had been walking through the cave for a long time when they finally spotted the end.
"Hey look! I think I see a light ahead!" exclaimed Mike.
"Yeah! Thank God!"
Mike looked back at Tre. He suddenly got an uneasy feeling in his stomach.
"Tre," Mike started, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah, Mike, why do you ask?"
Mike stopped walking and faced Tre, studying him really close.
"You're really pale, man," he answered.
"Oh," said Tre, "I just don't really feel good. I was thinking about Billie, and what's going to happen... "
"It's okay, I hope... " said Mike, patting Tre on the shoulder.
"No, Mike, it's not... It's not going to be okay..."
Mike didn't say anything more, but instead, kept walking to the end of the cave. He glanced back behind to make sure that Tre was coming. When he seen that Tre was walking slow, Mike slowed down a little bit, and waited until Tre was beside him before he started walking again.
The two men walked quietly side by side to the end of the cave. When they came out, Mike held his hands over his eyes because the sun was now shinning bright.
He studied his surroundings. They were on top of a small rocky cliff. The sky was a brilliant blue with a few clouds hanging off in the distance. The air was warm and crisp. The sun was shinning low in the sky, and it had look like it had just risen. Then, Mike realized that when they had entered the cave, it was dark.
"Hmmm... we must have been in that cave a long time," said Mike.
When no one answered, Mike turned around and looked behind him. Tre was no longer the only person behind him...
