Strange Things Are Happening, chapter 2
Tre pushed past Mike to see what he was talking about. Sure enough, the driver was gone. The keys were still in the ignition, and the bus was still running. Nothing was out of place, well, minus the missing driver. Tre tried to open the driver door to see if he was outside, but the door would not open.
"Well, Tre, what's going on?" asked Billie Joe, finally pushing past Mike.
"I don't know, man... It's weird."
Finally Mike spoke up, "Well, maybe he just went outside a different door."
"Maybe... ," said Billie and Tre in unison.
"Do you think we should go outside and look for him?" asked Billie while looking out the front window. The road appeared to be a little less traveled than regular roads, and there was no lighting, so it was almost impossible to see very far due to the moonless sky.
"Sure," said Mike, "But maybe we should all go out there together, you know, so... "
"So no one gets too scared?" grinned Tre.
Mike rolled his eyes, "Fine, Tre, why don't you go out there by yourself, and me and Billie will just stay on the damn bus."
"Fine," said Tre, "I ain't scared of no ghost." Then he proceeded in humming the Ghost Busters theme song.
Mike and Billie watched as Tre, calm as he can be, grabbed a flashlight and headed outside. They looked out the window and watched as Tre walked around the bus, shinning the flashlight around him. With the flashlight's light, Mike and Billie could see that they were in a heavily wooded area.
"What was that?" whispered Mike in a frantic voice.
"I don't know," said Billie in the same tone.
Billie had seen what Mike saw, or seen it's shadow dart across Tre's light.
They watched as Tre stopped and shinned the flashlight in the direction the shadow had gone. All of the sudden, the shadow came out again, and Tre's flashlight went out with his scream.
