All By Myself, chapter 1
Maria and Jen lived in a run down apartment building in a crappy town in New England. They are 29 years old. They were getting all their stuff together, because they were going to California for 2 weeks, because Jen's boyfriend, Brendan was having a family reunion there and he invited them to go too.
"Are you almost ready?" said Jen as she walked in the room.
"Uh huh..." Maria said yawning.
"If you didnt stay up allnight watching Green Day stuff that you taped over and over again you wouldnt be this tired." Jen said.
"But I always watch Green Day when theres nothing else to do." Maria said.
"Okay whatever, but are you ready now? We have to go soon, were gonna miss our flight." She said.
"Yeah you go I'll meet you in the car." Maria said.
Maria stuffed a few more things into her bag and went out to the car. Jens sister dropped them off at the airport. When they got out it was freezing, so they got coffee before they went on the plane. After 6 long hours of flying, which Maria hated with passion, because she was afraid of planes, they finally landed at an airport in Oakland, California. They went to baggage claim and got their stuff, and went outside and saw Brendan waiting for them by his car. Jen dropped her back and ran up to him and kissed him.
"Hey I missed you." He said.
"I missed you too." She answered.
Maria just stood there trying to carry her luggage and Jens until they finally stopped kissing and came over to help.
"So is the reunion in Oakland?" asked Jen.
"No, its in Berkeley, but its not far." he answered.
"Berkeley!" Maria screamed.
"Maria, were here for a family reunion and were not gonna see then so calm down." Jen said.
"So what hotel are we staying at?" Maria asked.
"The same one Ive been at for the past week, the Claremont Hotel." he began, "Its in Berkely, and I got two rooms, so..."
"Yeah I'll sleep by myself." said Maria.
Jen smiled.
"Okay here we are." he said as he pulled into the hotel parking lot.
"Ill go bring Jen's stuff upstairs, and you can check in okay Maria?" he asked.
"Yeah." she said sadly.
She felt really left out because her boyfriend Esteban just broke up with her and she was still really sad.
Jen and Brendan went upstairs, to their room.
"You can unpack your stuff I guess," Brendan began, "We should probably leave to go to the reunion in like a half hour."
"Okay." she said.
Jen was in the bathroom, unpacking her shampoo and soap and stuff.
Brendan walked over to her opened suitcase and took out a few of her thongs and started playing with them. Then she walked back out.
"What are you doing?" she asked laughing.
"Nothing." He said as he flung them back into the suitcase.
They walked outside to the car.
"Its about time you guys got here." said Maria, who had been waiting by the car for about 10 minutes, "What took you so long?"
They just laughed and got in the car. Then they got out at a fancy resturaunt, and shook hands with a bunch of people they didnt know. Then while they were eating, Maria kept staring at a guy at the buffet.
"Hey Jen," she whispered, "Doesnt that guy look like Billie Joe?"
"Oh my god!"she said, "It is him!"
Brendan got up and went to the bathroom, completely unaware of the fact that he was somehow related to Billie Joe.
"Lets go talk to him." Maria said anxoisly.
"Okay lets go."
They got up and sort of ran over to him.
"Hi." Maria said.
"Hi Im Jen." Jen said.
"Hi Im Billie Joe." he said as he shook their hands.
"And your so hott!" said Maria.
Jen burst out laughing.
"Im not like related to you am I?" he asked Maria.
"Oh no," she said laughing, "Were here with my friend, its his reunion thing were not related to anyone."
"Oh okay." he said.
"You were awesome at the concert we went to." said Jen.
"Especially Hitchin A Ride, and King For A Day." said Maria.
"Well those are the easiest songs to play." he said laughing.
"Im not trying to be nosy," said Jen, "But wheres Adrienne and your kids?"
"Oh yeah, Joey and Jakob got sick so Adi's staying home with them." he said.
"Awww." said Maria and Jen at the same time.
"I hope they get better soon." said Maria.
"Yeah theyll be fine its just the flu." he said.
"So how are you related to Brendan?" Jen asked.
"He's the short one with the mohawk right?" Billie Joe asked, "Well I havent met him yet, but Im pretty sure he's my second cousin."
"Where is he?"Maria asked.
"He's in the bathroom," she said, "You can meet him when he gets out."
"Okay." said Billie Joe.
Maria ran into the mens room to get Brendan.
"Maria!" Jen began, "How many times do I havbe to tell you you cant go in there whenever you want! Some day your gonna get in trouble."
Billie Joe laughed.
Maria came out and walked back to them.
"He's not in there" she said.
The girls room door opened and Brendan came out.
"Umm... Brendan" Jen said.
Billie Joe was still laughing.
Brendan turned and faced the door.
"God damnit I went in the girls room again." he said as he walked back.
"Oh my god." he said. and then he passed out.
