The Stupid Things We Do, chapter 16
You pull a small box out of your pocket and hand it to her, "open it." You say.
She pulls the lid open and looks at the contents. She gives you a quizzical look.
You take the ring out of the box and put it on her finger, "Marry me?" you say and look into her eyes.
She slowly gets up and puts Joseph in his crib. Then she walks back to the bed and sits down beside you and takes your hands in hers. "Yes." She kisses you in love and passion.
"When did you decide this?" she asks sometime later.
"When I went to get coffee there was a jewellery store a couple buildings down. I knew if I didn't get it then I never would."
"So that's what took you so long? I thought you said there was a long line-up?"
"It's not like I was going to ask you right away. There had to be some surprise. I couldn't of anyway, a cow interrupted us."
"True," she admires her ring, "Thank you. It's beautiful." She kisses you again.
"I love you." You say.
"I love you too."
*Three years later*
You and Adie are married now, and expecting your second child in a few months. You never forgot about Delila, every year on her and Joeys' birthday you visit her grave. You bought a house in the suburbs outside the city and have been living there for two and a half years. Alicia hasn't been heard from or seen since that day at the hospital, and you both hope you'll never run into her again. Life is good, your family is wonderful and you're hoping for it to stay like that for along time. Chances are it will.
