At the Library, chapter 9

Tre had a puzzled expression on his face. "Huh? Stuff? Tell your mother what?" He looked back and forth between you and Billie Joe, scratching his head. "I don't know what's going on!!!" He complained. Just then, Amy walked down the stairs, now fully dressed, and looked at the three of you.

"Okay, I missed something...apparently." She glanced down at Mel and Mike who were asleep on the floor at the side of the couch. You hadn't even noticed them there. Amy walked up to the couch, and grabbed a pillow, winking at you. You did the same. Grabbing a pillow yourself, you stood up and walked to the side of the couch. You and Amy stood next to each other, smirking. She nodded at you, and you both started bashing the hell out of Mike and Mel. Mel's eyes snapped open, and she sat up, with a scream, and Mike just groaned and rolled over onto his stomach, waving his hand in the air, hoping you'd stop. "Mike, get up, there's...something going on, and we all need to be filled in on." She glanced at you then at Billie Joe, who simply nodded at her.

Muttering something to himself, Mike groaned and sat up, glaring at you, because you were holding the pillow. You put the pillow behind your back, and smiled innocently. Mel was leaning against the wall, clutching the side of her head. Clearly, she was in for a bad hangover. You still had a headache, but it was less now, but you still felt for Mel. She groaned, and looked up at you, then to Billie Joe. "This better be good, because my head is killing me..."

Billie Joe glanced over at you, and motioned for you to come sit by him. You weren't really sure why you needed to be sitting by him to explain what was going on, but you didn't question him, being as how he was probably doing the best thing anyone had ever done for you. You silently walked over and sat down by him. He smiled at you, and then turned to everyone else. "Oh, so you guys are FINALLY going out?" Mike asked, as if he thought that was what was going on. "You really didn't need to wake everyone up to tell us that."

You narrowed your eyes at Mike. "No, we're not going out!"

Mike frowned at you, and then sighed. "Well you should be. So then what the fuck is going on?"

Billie Joe ignored his last comment, as did you. "Well..." You started, but you weren't realy sure what to say.

"You guys all know how badly her mother treats her. She's gone too far this time." Billie shook his head, disgusted. "Way too far. So, Fal's going to be moving out of her mother's house, and in with me. Her mom actually fucking HIT her last night." You looked down as he said this. You hated thinking about that. It was just a painful memory for you. "So anyway, she has to go tell her mother that she's moving out, obviously, and get some of her stuff. I'm not letting her go alone, I don't trust her mother." Billie Joe glanced over at you, to see how you were reacting, you weren't saying a word, still just staring down at the floor, avoiding everyone's gaze.

"Like I said before, you're going out." Mike stated simply. As far as he was concerned, if you and Billie Joe were moving in together, you may as well just be dating." You looked up at Mike, and he just smirked at you. "What?" He laughed a bit. "No, but dude, seriously, I'm going too. There's no way I'm not going with you. Not only are you gonna need me to help you move your stuff, but I don't trust your mom either, even with Billie there." Billie Joe gave him a slight glare, and Mike just shrugged. "Sorry dude, it's just I think she needs some more people to back her."

Everyone else also agreed. Not only were Billie Joe and Mike going with you, but so were Mel, Amy, and Tre. You were thankful for that. The more people you had there, the less nervous you'd be, and the less time it would take to get out of there. After everyone had gotten dressed, and taken a shitload of aspirin, you were all ready to go to your house and face your mother.

After what seemed like an almost too fast, walk to your place, you stood outside the door for a minute, and looked up at the house. To you, it appeared to be the scariest thing you'd ever seen. You didn't know what to expect on the other side of that door. You felt a hand on your shoulder, and jumped, but it brought you back to reality. You turned your head to see Billie Joe smiling at you, and you remembered you had everyone there in your support. Taking a deep breath, you pushed the door open. "Here goes nothing..."

You stepped inside, followed closely by everyone else, and looked around. Suddenly, you heard someone's footsteps rushing down the stairs. Less than 10 seconds later, your mother had come around the corner, and was now glaring at you and your friends. "Where the FUCK have you been?" She looked at everyone who was behind you. "And who the hell are you?!"

You said nothing for a minute, until you felt Tre elbow you. Inhaling deeply, you took a step forward. "I've been with them. They're my FRIENDS!"

"Well you can see good-bye to your friends, you're not going to see them again! You're grounded until I say otherwise, get in your goddamn room!" Your mother screamed at you.

You were about to listen when you remembered just why you had come, and why they were there. "No, I'm not going to my room. Well, I am, but I'm not staying there. I'm not saying good-bye to them either, I'm leaving with them! I'm so sick of you telling me how worthless I am, how I'm such a dissapointment to you! I don't have to take that from you, and so I'm moving out! Don't worry about me taking the stuff YOU bought me, I'll only take the things I got myself or the things Dad bought me."

You mother shook her head at you. "You're such an idiot, Fallyn. Do you REALLY think you're going to make it on your own out there? I'm GLAD that you want to move out, it means I don't have to deal with your stupid bullshit, and I won't have to worry about your worthless ass anymore. So go, take your shit, leave. Don't come crying to me when you fail miserably though, because I'll laugh in your face."

That's when Billie Joe stepped up. "She's not going to be on her own. She's got us, and we'll do a hell of alot more for her then you ever did! You treated her like shit, for NO reason, she doesn't have to put up with that anymore!" He was clearly upset, and you'd never seen him like that before, but you were glad he was there for you, otherwise your mother's words would have brought you to tears. Everyone else all nodded in agreement to what Billie had just said.

Your mother looked at Billie Joe with pure contempt. "Sure thing, little boy." She said, looking him straight in the eye. "I bet you feel the need to take care of her, huh?" He said nothing, just kept eye contact with your mother. "Maybe because you're parents didn't take care of you? What's wrong, you're daddy didn't love you or something?" You knew that Billie Joe's father had died when he was ten, and any mention of his father hurt him...alot, but he said nothing. He kept his gaze locked with your mothers, although his eyes were starting to look a little bit glossy. Your mother noticed too, because she continued to press the subject of his father. "He left you, didn't he? Didn't love you enough to stay?"

That's when Mike spoke up. "Dude, now I get why Fallyn's never here. If you'll say shit like that to someone you don't even know, I can only imagine what you say to her. You're just a disgusting person. Dude, Fallyn, let's go get your stuff." You didn't say anything, you couldn't take your eyes off of Billie Joe, who was now looking at the ground, clearly thinking about his father. You stepped up to him and placed a hand on his shoulder, and his head snapped up, as he realized what was going on. You began walking towards your room, and he followed right behind you.

You all began gathering your stuff. You weren't taking much with you, only about a week's worth of clothes, your records, and your guitar. You realized that once you moved in with Billie Joe, you'd be able to play it, hell, you'd live with someone who could TEACH you to play it. You walked out of the house, plastic bag full of clothes in hand. You didn't say a word to your mother, nor did anyone else, she just glared at you, as you exited the house. Once you got back to Tre's place, you smiled and thanked everyone for supporting you. Billie Joe still hadn't said a word. You knew not to press the matter. You looked at him, and just sighed. "Do you wanna get going?" He said nothing, just nodded, picked up your guitar, and brought it to his car. He set it gently in the back seat, and you set your clothes next to it. Still not saying a word, he waved at everyone as a way of saying good-bye, and got into the drivers seat. You hugged everyone, thanked them once again, and got in the car.

***Billie Joe's House***

Billie opened the front door, and set your guitar down next to it, and you walked in behind him, and set your bag of clothes ontop of the guitar case. He'd been silent ever since leaving your house, and you knew what it was that was bothering him. "She had no right to say that, I'm so sorry..."

Billie Joe just looked up at you, the tiniest of smiles etched on his face. "Don't be. It's not your fault, it's just...I don't like people to say anything about my dad, y'know?" You just nodded in understanding. You didn't like it when anyone would say something about your father either. Granted, he hadn't died, but he was in Detox, and just the mention of him always touched a nerve, so you could only imagine what it was like for Billie Joe. He just glanced around him. "Want the tour?" You nodded, smiling slightly. "Well, this is the living room, he took a couple steps, and into a little section only seperated from the living room by a counter. "This is the kitchen." He pointed to a door, across the room. "Bathroom" He pointed to another door right next to the bathroom door. "Bedroom. This concludes the tour. "

You just laughed a little bit, and he grinned at you. You glanced around once more, and just laughed. The place was so tiny, you had no idea how you were going to NOT get in Billie Joe's way, but it wasn't like you could turn back now. "It's not much, but it's home, and hey, no one to tell you what to do anymore." Your smile widened, and he just smirked. "Sooo...welcome to paradise." You just shook your head, and he put an arm around you and pulled you to him.

You pushed Billie Joe jokingly, and he pouted at you. "I can't say thank you enough." He just shrugged, like it was no big deal, but to you, it was. "No, really. Especially after what my mother said to you, she had absolutely NO right to say that." You looked him in the eye, and he was teared up again. Without thinking, you pulled him into a hug, and stroked his hair, trying to comfort him. He didn't cry, but you could tell that he wanted to.

After you both pulled away from the embrace, he went and seated himself on the couch, and you walked over and sat next to him. He just sighed, still thinking about his father. Billie Joe simply put an arm around you, as you sat on the couch in silence. It was peaceful, but you could tell he was still pained but what had been said earlier. You wished there was something you could do. Not really thinking about it, you just rested your head on his shoulder, and felt his arm around you, just a little bit tighter. You thought back to his words before. 'Welcome to paradise'. To you, that's what this really was, it wasn't much, but it was paradise.
