Obsession, chapter 6

Billi- what's going on here?!" Ollie said, dropping all of her stuff. Kirsten got up and quickly got some clothes on and ran out the door. Billie threw on his boxers that were thrown all the way across the room and went outside to chill in the backyard. He really didn't know what to do in a situation like that. He really had never been in a situation like that. He didn't know what to say to his mom. He needed to gather his thoughts, and the backyard was the best place to do all that. When he finally got started to get relaxed, his mom came out.

"What was going on in there?"

No response.

"Huh? Come on Bill, I'm being calm about this. Do you wanna talk about it?"

"No. It's pretty self-explanatory." Billie said plainly.

"Well, I wanna talk about it."

"What the hell is there to say mom! You know what you saw! OK! Like I said, it was pretty self-explanatory!"

"Bill-"

"No mom! I don't wanna talk about it! OK! You know what you saw so just fucking leave it!" Billie screamed at her and walked off.

"Go find her. I wanna talk to her."

"If she ran out of the door like that she probably doesn't want to talk about it either!"

"Billie Joe just go find her dammit!"

"FINE!!!" Billie Joe agreed. He really didn't feel like arguing with her right now. He was just to exhausted. He just wanted to find Kirsten.

He went back into the living room, threw on his ratty jeans and a shirt and went out to look for her.

"Damn this is gonna be hard." Billie thought aloud. "If I was Kirsten, where would I go? The park is too far to walk to, so is the little coffee shop. DAMN! I DON'T KNOW! I'll just go to the damn guitar shop!"

********

When he got to the guitar shop, he wondered, if she was even in there, if she would be too embarrassed about what happened to even talk to him.

He searched the store. She wasn't in the guitar or bass section, so the only section left was the drum section. Sure enough, she was there, talking to a punk, a head full of green hair.

"Kirsten."

"Oh, hey Billie." she said looking down at the ground.

"So, I've seen you met this little punk!"

"Hey! That's not nice BJ!"

"You know I'm joking Tré! So, how do you like Kirsten?"

"She's cool."

"Wait! You two know each other?" Kirsten said pointing a finger at both of them.

"Yea. Tré plays with his band at Gilman Street all the time."

"Oh. Yeah... so I guess Billie and I better get going ok bye Tré." Kirsten rushed and grabbed Billie's arm and pulled him out of the guitar shop.

"Billie we need to talk."

"Ok. Shoot."

"Billie, I'm so sorry about what happened! I don't, I don't even know how it happened! I don't know what I was thinking. I'm so sorry-" Kirsten was cut off by Billie.

"Hey, hey. Relax. It's ok." Billie said, pulling her into a hug. "In fact, my mom wants you to come back and stay. She was worried about where you went because this is kind of a bad place around here." he lied.

"Uh, ok. Then let's go." Billie put his arm around Kirsten, and she did the same. She was worried about going back. But it couldn't be that bad, could it? Ollie hadn't even met her yet. Maybe it was going to be that bad after all.

********

Billie went to his room and plopped down on his bed to watch TV. Kirsten was about to do the same, but Ollie had called her into the kitchen to talk.

About fifteen minutes later, Kirsten came back into Billie's room and sat down next to him.

"So, how'd it go?"

"Ah, it was ok."

"Good. I didn't hear any screaming, so, I was guessing it went well. What did you tell her."

"The truth." Kirsten said plainly.

"Ok." Billie didn't want to talk about it anymore. He still had a slight headache from the night before and he just wanted to relax and watch TV.

*******

The next day, he woke up at 11, which is extremely early for him. He went downstairs and slid down on the couch. Mike came into the living room and turned on the TV.

"Where is everyone?" Billie asked, rubbing his eyes.

"Your mom went back to that convention thing for the restaurant, aaand, I have no clue where Kirsten is."

"Is she in the backyard?"

"Nope."

"Is she ANYWHERE in the house?"

"No. She woke up around 9:30 when I was making breakfast, and I asked her if she wanted some. And said no and went outside. She looked as if she had been crying."

"Fuck! Where the fuck did she go? I gotta go find her!" He ran back to his room, got dressed, grabbed his keys and went to go look for her.

"Dude, calm down, she'll come back." Mike said as he saw Billie run into the living room.

"But what if she doesn't?! I'm worried."

"Bill, she just left this morning. It's ok. Just chill for awhile. If she doesn't come back by tomorrow, go look for her. Mike said as he pulled out a pack of cigarettes. "Want one?" Billie nodded his head and took one from the box.

Billie slowly made his way to the back door. He sat down on the bench and put it in his mouth.

"Dude, I think you need to light it first." Mike said as he lit Billie's cigarette for him.

"Thanks."

"You really like Kirsten don't you?" Mike said breaking the awkward silence. Billie sighed.

"Yeah. I just don't want her to get hurt out there."

"Bill, she'll be fine." Mike assured him. " She's 17. She's old enough to take care of herself.
