Obsession, chapter 7
Once Billie was finished, he went up to go to his car and find Kirsten again.
"Bill..." Mike started to say but was suddenly cut off by Billie slamming the door in Mike'sface behind him. Mike was going to go after him but he was just too tired.
Billie was only in his car for about ten minutes when he was about to give up. She wasn't at the coffee shop that he and Kirsten had "officially met, the park was too far to walk to from Billie Joe's house, she wasn't anywhere. He was on the absolute verge of giving up when he suddenly remembered the guitar shop.
He drove to the guitar shop, parked and crashed through the doors.
"Hey man! Not cool dude! Don't break the doors dude. My rule, You Break It You Buy It." the dude from the register said.
"Yeah, yeah. Sorry." Billie said breathlessly, heading toward the guitar section and then over to the bass section. Still out of breath, he slumped down to the floor and slid his fingers through his hair. He looked up at the ceiling and then around the store.
Suddenly, his green eyes that were dark with sadness soon lit up at the familiar sight of a head full of green hair. Billie Joe rushed to his feet and jogged over to the drum section.
"Hey man! Remember! You Break It You Buy It!" the man from the counter called.
"I GOT THAT THE FIRST TIME!" Billie called back.
"Hey dude! I always run into you here! Why the long face?" Tre asked.
"Have you seen Kirsten anywhere?"
"Uhm.. I don't think so. Why? Is she missing?" Tre asked, concerned.
"She left this morning. Mike said she looked like she had been crying. I'm just really worried about her."
"Don't worry. She'll come back."
"That's what Mike said." Billie mumbled, looking down at his feet.
"Well, I don't know Mike that well, but he seems like a smart guy. Smarter than me that's for damn sure."
"He IS smart." Billie said, still looking down at the ground.
"Y'know what you need?" Tre asked.
"Hm."
"A smoke."
"I already had one. And it didn't help. I'm still freakin' out."
"I don't care if you already had one! You're having another and that's that!" Tre demanded as he dragged Billie out of the store.
Tre took a long drag on his cigarette and said,
"You should go to 924 tonight. An awsome new band is playing there tonight! At least that's what I heard."
"Eh, I don't feel like going to Gilman Street right now. Too much on my mind."
"I didn't say RIGHT now smart one. I said TONIGHT!"
"Well, I don't feel like going to Gilman at all today."
"Whatever. Hey, when do you guys have another gig there? You guys rock!" Tre asked, taking another long drag on his cigarette before stubbing it againd=st the brick wall behind him.
"Not until we find a new drummer. Al left the band to go to college. Dumbass." Billie said looking at Tre. Tre saw Billie's green eyes suddenly go dark with deep emotion. Tre immediatly knew how much Billie cared for his band and how much Billie loved playing.
"I'm sorry man. My band, we, uh... Kinda like, fell apart, soooo... I guess I'm just a filler-in drummer."
"You're a spare drummer!?" Billie asked suprised, his eyes lighhting up, brighter than ever before.
"Yup. I play for whoever needs a drummer right then when they need one..." This was Billie's chance to get the band back.
"Do you, like, wanna play with us sometime?"
"Sure!" replied Tre with no he'sitation what-so-ever.
"Awsome! We were planning on having a jam later. Wanna join?"
"You don't even have to ask that question! Duh! I wanna jam!" Tre said as he started to air drum.
"Heh heh. Okay, do you know where 995 S. Berkeley St. Is?"
"Yyyyep."
"Ok that's my house. Meet us there around, oh, lets say 4:30ish?"
"Sounds good!" Billie was so excited he could barely speak! He might actually have a band again!

"Mike!" Billie screamed at him, making him jump.
"What?!"
We have a new drummer! Well, sort of." Billie screamed again as he jumped around the room, acting like a child.
"What!? No fucking way! Who?!" Mike screamed at Billie as he jumped up from the couch.
"Whoo. Ok." Billie said as he calmed down "You know that dude with the green hair who played at Giman Street all the time?"
"Tre?"
"YES!"
"No way! He fucking kicks ass!"
"I invited him to jam with us."
"Awsome!"

Wihtin a few weeks, Tre had all the songs down.
"We have to fucking kick some major ass at this gig tonight." Billie said, putting his guitar on the stand.
"No shit. But with Tre, I think that definately WILL happen." Mike said, handing Billie a Coke. "When is he getting here anyway?"
"Around 3:30 so we can parctice for a few hours and have time to make it down there and get ready."
"What time is it now?"
"It's uh, 3:45. Billie said looking at his cell phone.
"You know Tre. Always late!" Mike laughed.
"No need to fear! Tre Cool is here! Wooooo! Billie, open your fucking garage door!" Tre called from outside the garage. Billie opened the garage foor and in ran Tre.
"Well isn't it the Tre Cool himself!" Billie laughed. "You're late... AGAIN!"
"Sorry I'm late guys. Let's rock!" Tre said as he played his drumstickes an Mike's head as he walked by him.
They played for a few hours, then packed all of their stuff into the back of Tre's van and headed to Gilman Street.
As they finished their last song, the crowd went absolutly nuts. The atmosphere was incredible. Billie Joe was making his way to the bar when someone grabbed him by the arm.
"Uh, can I help you?"
"Yes. You guys rocked out there. The guy said.
"Hey thanks man!" Billie Joe replied as a huge smile took over his face.
"I work for Lookout! Records. How would you like to record in our studio?"
"For real?"
"For real."
"So you mean we have like, a record deal now?" Billie asked, his heart racing.
"That's what I'm sayin'. You guys are really good! So would you?"
"Hell yeah we would!" Billie yelled and went to go find Mike and Tre.
