A Hurricane Of Fucking Lies, chapter 27

Adie picked up the phone and answered. "Hello, Armstrong's," said Adie, sweetly and gently. Ashley wanted to hang up, but she couldn't. She had to talk to Joey.

"Hi this is Joesph's teacher, Mrs. Kilne, is Joesph around?" she asked trying to sound convincing.

"Is Joesph in trouble?" asked Adie. She didn't want anything more to go wrong.
When Joey got home last night, she put him in his room and he was grounded for a long time. A very long time. Billie Joe agreed with her punishment, but she didn't allow Joey to use the computer unless it was for school work and Billie Joe felt it was unfair so when Adrienne was gone he let Joey go online.

"No, I just need to talk about this paper he wrote. It's very good and I need to know if he'll let it in the school paper," Ashley said, praying that this would work. She heard his door open and heard Adie say "it's for you" and leave.

"Joey, Joey, it's Ash," she said, squealing in exctiment to talk to her one true love.

"Are you nuts?! If my mom finds out I'm talking to you I'm dead meat." He said, nervously scanning his room.

"Joey, please, this is super important. My dad beat me up again and my mom wants us out, in one week." She cried, facing reality that this was it.

"Baby, you can't leave. I love you too much." He said, almost crying.

"But I have to. I'm leaving in one week. And some of my ribs are broken my dad kicked me so much," She said, more and more tears spilling. She didn't want to leave. She loved Joey more then anything and couldn't bear to be without him.

"Meet me. You have to. Tonight I'll meet you outside your house call me when your parents are sleeping. I have to go Ash, but I love you and call me." He said, hanging up and leaving his room to bring the phone downstairs.

"So are you gonna let Mrs. Kilne put your article in the school paper?" Joey sucked back his tears and reliezed that was the cover Ashley had used to talk to him.

"No, no. I told her to use Sandy Cooper's it's a lot better then mine," he explained, going back upstairs.

*Later that night*

Ashley walked back from the bathroom after her given sponge bath to herself. She slightly opened her mom's bedroom door to see that she was sleeping. Her brother was out with some friends and his girlfriend of the week. She picked up the phone and dialed Joey's number. It was around 11PM so she was hoping he'd pick up because his family was sleeping. They were, and Joey answered.

"Hey baby. Your mom out?" he asked.

"Yes, but hurry up, meet me in ten minutes." They both hung up and Joey snuck out the front door. He started his car and drove to Ashely's house. She ran outside, as fast as her crutches could take her, and Joey helped her into his car.

"Where are we going?" she asked.

"You'll see. I'm gonna put this over your eyes so it's a suprise," she giggled and let him tie the material to her eyes.

They drove along roads, and Ashley felt like the car ride took about ten minutes. They were outside their school. Ashley gave him a look.

"Don't worry, there is more too this then this." He said, using some sort of key to unlock the school. He lead her into an elevator, and they popped out on the roof of the school.

"Oh my gosh Joey, I can see the whole town from here. You're the best," she said, hugging him. He cuddled with her. They watched the sun rise and then they decided it was time to go back and sleep a little bit. They made it home without waking up anyone and they were able to sucessful enjoy their sunday afternoon and they went back to school on Monday.

For every day that week, Joey would bring Ashley something nice to cherish there last days together. Finally on Friday, Adie allowed Joey to go to a going away party and they were leaving Saturday morning. He walked into their house, and into Ashley's room.

"Is this gonna work Joey? Can be apart like this? I'm moving to fucking Maine, that isn't even 1000 miles, it's a hell of a lot longer than that, how are we supposed to be together like this?"

"Can't we try? Can't we just stay together and see how long we can go? Ashley I love you I never want to give you up. Your everything to me." They both cried, hugging each other until Tara made Joey leave because Ashley had to get up early.

Joey trugged home, dreading tommorrow morning. The last time he could kiss her, touch her, hold her. He wanted so badly for her to stay but it wasnt''happening.

Joey got up at 5AM, knowing they were leaving at 6. But unfornately, he fell back asleep. He got back up at 5:45, and rushed some clothes on. Billie Joe stopped him.

"Take my car, it goes faster." he handed Joey the keys, and they shared a father to son nod. There was no words to be spoken, Billie Joe knew the importance of this girl and knew that Joey would thank him.

Joey sped down the Ashley's house. By the time he got there, it was 6:05, he hopped out of the car, and turned around to the street to see that everything was gone, and the car was leaving. He tried to run to catch up but it was too late. Ashley was gone, forever. He fell on the street crying. He had just lost the love of his life.
