What? I Can Dream Too..., chapter 4

"Ouch" Hannah could have sworn her voice hadn't been as croaky as it was now last night, but she just put it down to too much beer and ignored it, trying to push herself into a more comfortable position in what she assumed was her bed, "Nah. Bad idea. Definitely won't try that again any time soon"
"Hey, back with us then? Hold still while I do this."
"Tracey? When did you get here, I don't remember you saying you were going to visit, but then I don't think I remember much right now really..." Hannah closed her eyes again, she may not remember much about last night, but she didn't think her light had ever been that bright, "Where am I?"
"Well, its more you visiting me, at work..."
"Why would I do that -- you know how much I hate hospitals..."
"Well, you don't seem to be having much of a problem with it now and you've been here all night," Mike wandered into the room carrying a cup of what was probably meant to be coffee "How are you feeling?"
"Dunno, kinda out of it and confused, I have absolutely no idea what happened or how I got here, but apart from that I think I'm all right...OW!"
"Sorry, done now, some sort of doctor will be here on rounds soon so they'll bring you up to speed with what went on. I have to go now, I'll see you later OK?" Tracey left the room, leaving a very confused Hannah and Mike and his 'coffee'alone in the private room, at least until a surprisingly bouncy Tre came bounding in followed by Billie Joe, Rach and Jojo.
"YAY! She's alive! She's alive!" Tre did his very best other person voice and pranced around like he was in a bad Frankenstein movie, until Rach tripped him up sending him sprawling into the end of the bed and Hannah's foot.
"I think I worked out why I'm here now, but I'm not sure why it happened." Hannah tried to double up in pain, but the cast that encased most of her right leg and her left forearm made it almost impossible.
"So, how you doing? Apart from the obvious?" Rach perched herself on the edge of the bed, pushing Tre's head out of the way, meaning that once again he ended up on the floor.
"Retard." he hissed, Rach ignored him.
"Yeah, fine...that could just be drugs though..." Hannah was now inspecting what she could see of her arms, mostly covered in plaster and a deep purple and black bruise on the left and numerous tubes and wires weaving in and out of the right, she looked up at the bags of fluid hanging above her head, trying to work out what it was that was going into her arm, soon giving up.
The room remained in near silence apart from the sound of Mike fiddling with his plastic cup and Billie Joe mindlessly humming something unrecognizable until somebody entered the room.
"Good Morning," he said in a voice that really was far too cheerful for any time of day as he crossed the small room, skillfully avoiding Tre who had now rolled onto his back and was spread-eagled across the middle of the room, "and how are we feeling this morning?" There was that overly cheerful voice again and if it didn't shut up soon, Billie Joe, Mike and Jojo all looked like they were about to hurt its owner...
"I think I'm fine, but seeing as how I have no idea what has happened between now and trying to find some candy last night-"
"Candy? Where?" That had Tre up off the floor, almost running round the room until Mike threw some loose change at him and Billie Joe dragged him out of the room to find a vending machine containing candy.
"Well, let me try and clear some of that confusion up for you," the doctor (who apparently had no name...) "Your friends bought you in here late last night after you apparently fell down the stairs. You've broken your right leg just below the knee, which we had to reset and put in a screw to hold it all in place, and your left arm in two places which we did the same to." Hannah sat for a moment trying to make sense of what she'd just been told, only really snapping out of her daze as the random doctor continued. "As soon as physco are happy that you can move about properly, we can let you go home, which could be as soon as this evening." He said this as a bloke who looked like he could go out a run a marathon with only a bottle of lucozade and a packet of polo mints walked through the door.
"So," the overly cheerful voice started again, "this is Chris, and he'll spend some time with you now. The sooner you satisfy him that you can move about, the sooner you can go home." Almost as if to stop any argument that came before it happened. With that he left.
"So, you must be Hannah?" At least this guy's voice wasn't as annoying as the other one's...Hannah nodded reluctantly as the guy smiled patronizingly and then looked across at Mike who was still sat by the window playing with his empty coffee cup. "And you would be?"
"Mike, Hannah's friend, and I'll be staying right here thank you."
"Well, OK then..." Chris obviously wasn't used to being told what was going to happen. "Lets get on with this shall we."
****Elsewhere****
"So remind me again Mr. Cool, why exactly have we just spent the last 20 minutes walking up and down what could have quite easily been the same corridor?" Billie Joe tried his best not to sound like he was wishing he was anywhere but here, but somehow it didn't quite work out.
"The machine we found didn't have the candy I wanted..."
"And why did I say that was Tre?" Billie Joe's patience sounded seriously stretched now.
"Because they don't have Hershey's everywhere in England, they have Cadburys instead..."
"That's right, well done, so what are we going to do?"
Tre shuffled his feet a bit as he looked at the ends of his shoes..."Buy what we can find and get back?" He looked up again at Billie in the same way that little kids do when they think they've got the answer to a question right.
"That's right, now get on with it, I really don't want to spend the rest of my life in this corridor and I'm pretty sure that if she isn't let out soon, Hannah's going to attempt some sort of escape." Looking around, Billie Joe wasn't really sure why he'd bothered with all that, Tre had legged it back to the candy machine they had passed about 50 times already, leaving him stood on his own in the middle of an empty corridor. He started down the corridor towards the machine, but before he reached it Tre was bounding back up the corridor with an armful of brightly colored packaging, back towards Hannah's room.
