The Summer I Got A Life, chapter 1

The alarm clock blared right in my ear as I woke up. "Shut up you damn clock!", I yelled as I sent the alarm clock flying onto the floor. It was too early to be up. it was 5:30 in the morning, when I usually got up, but it still felt too early. I lied in bed for a few more minutes and then I had to get up. I saw my dad sitting on the couch, watching the weather reports. "Morning Dad", I said to him. "Morning Kimmy", he said. "Dad, it's Kim, not Kimmy, I'm eighteen years old.", I said back to him. I walked into the kitchen, grabbed one of the cereal bars that are way too sweet, washed it down with some milk and took a shower, got dressed, dried my hair and put my makeup on.

At 7:15 I drove off to school. I was graduating in a few weeks, so I was very anxious to get school over with and then-NO MORE SCHOOL. I couldn't wait. I was also anxious about playing my guitar at the graduation concert. Guitar had been the only thing that had kept me going when my mom died and it still kept me going through Amber the bitch's tormenting, and other things that were hard to get through. I arrived at the school and locked the car and got out and walked inside.

I opened my locker and took a marker and crossed off another day until I got out of this hell hole for good. Just then, I felt someone pull on my hair from behind. At first I thought it was Amber but then I realized that it was only my friend, Mary. "Here, Kim, it's your early birthday present. Or is it late, since you birthday was two months ago? I dunno, but here you go.", said Mary. It was a ticket for the Green Day concert on June 15th. "Thank you so much Mary, you are the best!", I said to her as I gave her a huge hug. I wanted to see Green Day desperately ever since I heard they were coming to the city, but I had no money, so Mary had invited me to go with her. I was so happy. That was, until I ran into Amber the bitch. "Well, if it isn't Billie Joe Armstrong's love slave. What are you up to, whore? Having sex with Billie?", she said and her little group of stupid cheerleader friends giggled. "Oh, well, Billie Joe is too much of an idiot to do anything", said Amber.

Now, Amber can make as many comments as she wants to when it comes to anything but she does not repeat DOES NOT insult Billie Joe! "You fucking bitch! I hate you! You are so fucking stupid I don't know why the hell you are in high school instead of kindergarten! Fuck off! NOW!!" I yelled at Amber and she slowly walked away and Mary came over to me. "I think the whole school heard you. What happened now?", Mary asked. I told her about what Amber had said about Billie Joe and Mary said that Amber had no clue what she was talking about and told me not to make a big deal about her. Then behind me, I heard "Miss Thompson?". It was Mrs. Delaney, the assistant principal. And she was talking to me. "Yes?", I asked. "I want to see you in my office, Miss Thompson", said Mrs. Dealney, "Come now", she said. Mary whispered to me "What did you do?". "I don't know", I whispered back to her.

I followed Mrs. Dealney to the office and saw Amber sitting there. Oh, great, I thought. Mrs. Dealney told me to take a seat and then said "Miss Thompson, Miss Culbertson here said that you verbally abused her because you said something to her about not saying anything to a Billie of some sort". Verbal abuse? Saying something back to someone who had insulted your true love was now verbal abuse? What was this world coming to? "Well, she said something about him and me that was rather rude", I said. "Did you, Miss Culbertson?", asked Mrs. Dealney. "Oh no, Mrs. Dealney", said Amber. "You fucking liar", I whispered to Amber, but unfortunately, Mrs. Dealney heard me. "Miss Thompson, I will not tolerate that language. Detention, my office today for language and verbal abuse". What?, I thought to myself and then I thought over what had happened. Dammit!, I thought to myself.
