It's Comedy And Tragedy, chapter 10
Rai walked out of the room. She closed the door behind her and started walking down the long hospital hallway. She heard muffled laughs as she passed a door. She looked in the window and saw a family visiting their grandparent, or so it would seem. A smile came to her face, then a frown. As much as she hated to admit it, she was homesick. She got along with her family overall, and realized that she would miss them. She continued walking down the hall and saw a group of people coming towards her. It was Danelle and everyone. She walked up to them anxious to hear what the doctor had said.
"Hey Rai!" said Danelle.
"Hey D! What did the doctor say about Billie?" asked Rai.
"He said he can leave early, but he has to rest for a couple more days." Replied Adie with a smile.
"All our stuff from the hotel is in our cars, we just came to get Billie." Said Mike.
"Okay, I'll meet you guys in the parking lot. I just need some fresh air real quick." Replied Rai.
"Do you want company?" asked Danelle.
"No, I'm fine. Thanks though."
The group continued on to Billie's room. Rai watched them turn the corner, till she continued to walk. She walked down the stairs wearily, thoughts still tossing around in her head. Part of her just wanted to go home, to see her family and try to mend their relationship together, and to leave before Adie finds out about Billie and hers rendezvous. She continued walking till she found the exit of the hospital lobby. She opened the door and stepped out. She gracefully walked over to the sidewalk and slumped down on the curb. She opened her mind to the first thought that came in her head, why did Billie say 'I love you' to her... .maybe he was just saying it because it felt so right and he got caught up in the moment. Or maybe there was more to it. She opened her mind once again to the second thought that came to her head, James. She already missed him. Rai's eyes wandered around the parking lot and spotted Billie's car. She got up off the curb and started walking towards it. She stopped when she heard laughter echoing. She turned around and saw Danelle and Tre racing towards the car.
She laughed when she saw Tre grab Danelle's leg and drag her down.
"Hey! You cheated!" yelled Danelle.
Tre approached the vehicle and slapped his hand down it.
"Ha-ha I WON!!" screamed Tre with glee.
"Settle down you two, shit, Jakob and Joey act more mature than you two." Said Adie with a smile.
"No they don't!" yelled Tre.
Rai turned around to see Mike pushing Billie in the wheelchair and Adie walking beside them.
"Ready to go hun?" asked Adie.
"Yup." Replied Rai.
"Do you ladies need to stop at home to pick up some stuff before we go?" asked Mike.
"Uh no, not really. What about you Rai?" questioned Danelle.
"Nope, I'm fine."
"Alrighty then, who's riding with who?" asked Mike, as he unlocked his car, which was right next to Billie's.
Danelle and Rai looked at each other .
"We'll go with Billie and Adie." Replied Danelle. "If that's okay with them."
"Of course it's okay." Replied Adie.
Danelle and Rai filed into the backseat. The others were helping Billie into the passenger seat.
Adie walked around to the drivers seat and got in. Danelle and Rai were busy talking in the back.
"Okay ladies, ready to go?" Billie questioned excitedly.
"YES!" Danelle squealed.
Rai didn't even make eye contact with Billie.
"Yep." She replied less energetic than she meant for it to be.
Billie was slightly sad at the fact that Rai felt uncomfortable around him. He knew it would of happened, but he hoped it wouldn't.
"Shit Rai! Can't you sound a little more energetic than that? You're going to Billie Joe's house; this is a dream for you." Danelle whispered so that only Rai could hear.
"Yea, sorry. I'm just kind of tired."
"Well snap out of it!" said Danelle, louder than she meant to.
"Hey you guys okay?" asked Adie as she was pulling out of the hospital parking lot.
"Yep, just dandy." Replied Danelle sarcastically.
Silence fell over the car.
"Hey, do you guys want to listen to music?" asked Adie.
"Yea, sure!" replied Rai.
"Okay, what station?" asked Adie stretching her arm out to the radio control panel.
"No wait, I have a CD." Replied Danelle, with a grin on her face.
Danelle opened her purse that was on her lap and pulled out Green Day's Warning CD.
"Ha-ha Yes! I love that CD!" said Rai.
Billie turned around to see which CD they were talking about, he laughed and turned his head back around.
"Here ya go Adie." Said Danelle poking her arm in between Adie's and Billie's seats.
Adie looked at the CD and chuckled to herself as she took it out of Danelle's hand and inserted it into the CD player. Adie turned it up as all four sang along to Warning.
The CD finished. They were nearing Billie's and Adie's house.
"Okay, do you have another CD or do you want me to put on the radio." Asked Adie
"Um, can you put on the radio, please." Replied Rai.
"Sure, what station?" questioned Adie once again.
"How about Kroq?" asked Danelle.
"Okay."
Adie took the CD out and handed it back to Danelle. Se turned the radio on and tuned it into Kroq.
"Here comes the rain again, falling from the stars. Drenched in my pain again, becoming who we are."
All four roared with laughter as the radio continued playing 'Wake Me Up When September Ends'
******* Two Hours Later**********
"Ah! Finally, Home!" said Adie.
They pulled into their driveway of their mansion. Tre and Mike, came in a few minutes later. The four got out of the car, Billie walked to the trunk to help get the girl's bags, but Adie told him that she could get them. Danelle and Rai, grabbed their bags and walked up the stairs to the entrance.
"Wow... " said Rai. "You have a really beautiful home."
"Thanks." Said Adie, "But you can call it home too, after all you're going to be staying here for a month."
Danelle and Rai exchanged excited looks and walked into the house. Billie was in the boys' room calling them down to meet their guests. Billie came out and held Jakob's hand as Joey ran past them to greet his mom.
"Mommy!" yelled Joey.
"Hey honey! How's my big boy doing?"
"Okay. Mommy, who are they?"
"Oh, Joey, Jakob, this is Rai and Danelle." Said Billie identifying them by pointing.
"Hi." Joey said shyly.
Jakob just hid behind his dad's leg.
"Aw, Jakob it's fine. They're really nice." Said Adie, bending down to pick him up.
Lauren, their babysitter, walked in the family room to greet the couple.
"Hey Adrienne, Hey Billie! Back so soon?" asked Lauren.
"Oh, right I forgot to call and tell you, their show got cancelled, because Billie got injured." Said Adie.
"Oh, really. Sorry to hear that." Replied Lauren. "Well thanks for hiring me. I better get going."
Adie led Lauren into the kitchen and handed her an envelope.
"Okay, bye Lauren, drive safely."
"Okay, bye Joey and Jakob, see ya next time." Said Lauren. "Oh and bye Billie, get well soon."
Lauren exited the house and drove off.
"Okay, Rai, Danelle, I'll show you your room." Said Adie, placing Jakob on the floor.
******* Two Weeks Later*********
"Hey Rai, you awake?" asked Danelle while yawning.
"Yep."
"You know, we're going to be leaving in a week, and I still haven't told my parents that your living with us."
"What? Danelle! Call them and ask."
"Nah, it'll all be fine, but we should go to your house and pick up your stuff."
"Okay, should we go today, or wait till we start heading to your house?"
"Well wait till we head to our house, I don't want Billie and Adie to make two trips there and back for no reason." Replied Danelle.
"Okay, sounds good. We should get up, its eleven."
The two girls yawned and got dressed. They took turns using the bathroom then headed downstairs. Joey and Jakob were in the living room watching cartoons while eating a bowl of cereal.
"Morning guys." Said Danelle
"Good morning Danelle." Joey replied shyly. He seemed to develop a crush on her. (aww... how cute!lol)
"Where's your mom and dad?" asked Rai.
"Um, I don't know. I think they're still sleeping." Said Joey.
"Oh okay."
Danelle and Rai exchanged looks... .sleeping huh? They thought. Danelle started heading towards the stairs.
"Danelle, where are you going?" asked Rai in a whisper.
"Um... I forgot something in our room."
"No! Danelle don't barge in like that! You're such a pervert!"
"I just want to make sure their okay." Said Danelle with a grin on her face.
"Danelle! Bullshit! You know their fine! Stop! Don't make me follow you!"
Danelle was racing up the stairs as quietly as she could. She tiptoed down the hall and to Billie and Adie's room.
"Danelle, NO!" Rai whispered.
Danelle put her ear against the door. She started laughing and signaled for Rai to come join her.
"No, I'm not going to stoop down to your level... .Did you hear that? Was that a moan?"
Rai quickly had a change of heart and tiptoed down the hall to join Danelle. Both girls covered their mouths and started laughing hysterically.
"Oh my god, we are so immature!" whispered Rai.
"I know, but its okay, its fun right?" Danelle whispered back.
"Ha-ha... .kind of, okay, c'mon lets go... please, before they open the door." Said Rai.
Danelle agreed and they tiptoed down the hall. They heard a door open and jumped into the nearest room. Luckily it was theirs.
"I'm going to check if the boys are okay, do you need anything honey?" asked Adie.
"No, I'm fine... .hurry back, I'm not finished with you yet." Replied Billie
Adie's face turned bright red as she walked down the hall. The girls opened their door and casually walked out,
"Oh... ..hey Adie!" said Rai.
Adie was startled and jumped.
"Oh shit, you scared me." Replied Adie with a grin.
"Sorry, we were just heading down for some breakfast, you want to join us?" asked Danelle.
"Oh, um actually, I'm really tired and I just needed to check on the boys real quick." Said Adie.
"Oh, well go back to bed. We can check on them for you." Replied Rai.
"Okay... thanks." Said Adie with a grateful smile.
Adie walked back to her bedroom and quietly shut the door behind her.
The girls started laughing hysterically.
"Oh my god, that was soo funny!" roared Danelle.
"Shh.. keep your voice down." Rai managed to say.
The girls walked down the hall and continued down the stairs. They walked into the living room to make sure Joey and Jakob were okay, like they said they would. Then they carried on to the kitchen. They poured themselves bowls of cereal, and quietly ate.
"Good morning!" yelled Billie as he walked into the kitchen.
"Morning." Replied Rai.
"Wow, someone's in a good mood. Did you sleep well last night?" asked Danelle with a grin on her face.
Both girls tried to hold back their laughter as Billie answered,
"Why, yes I did."
Adie then walked in adjusting her hair.
"Thanks for checking on the boys this morning, I really appreciate it."
"No problem." Replied Rai.
The four sat at the table and continued eating. Rai and Danelle got up and washed their dishes. They walked back to their room. They both checked their messages on their cell. Rai's phone: 0 MESSAGES. Danelle's phone: 1 NEW MESSAGE.
"Hey, I have a new message. I wonder who it's from."
Danelle called her voicemail box and patiently waited for her message to start playing.
Rai looked as Danelle's face slowly started to frown.
"NO! SHIT!" yelled Danelle.
"What? What's wrong?" asked Rai nervously.
Danelle finished listening to her message and closed her phone.
"My parents want me to come home early."
"What? Why, is everything okay?" asked Rai.
"I don't know, they said they'd tell me when I get there. I don't think its something good."
"Danelle, I'm sorry. I don't mean to sound selfish right now, but since you probably need to spend some alone time with your family, I think its best if I stay at a hotel or something while, u ask your parents if I can stay with you guys."
"How is that sounding selfish, and no. I am not going to let you wait at a hotel. Whatever they are going to tell me, they can say it in front of you. Trust me, they'll be fine with you staying. It's not that big of a deal." Danelle said with a reassuring smile.
"Okay, if you're sure." Replied Rai.
They both headed downstairs to tell Billie and Adie the news. They quietly creeped into the living room to find all four of the Armstrongs sitting on the couch watching cartoons. Jakob was on Billie's lap as Joey and Adie were on the end.
"Um, Adie, Billie, can we talk to you in the kitchen real fast?" asked Rai.
Billie and Adrienne exchanged looks as Adie answered,
"Sure."
Billie sat Jakob on the couch as he got up to meet the girls in the kitchen.
"Is everything okay?" asked Billie.
"Um, well not exactly." Said Rai
Billie and Rai glared into each other's eyes. It was the first time since the incident at the hospital. Rai turned away.
"Well what's wrong?" Adie asked nervously.
"Well, I'm just going to say it. My parents left me a message on my phone telling me to come home as soon as I could. Something is wrong."
"Oh my god! Oh honey, I'm so sorry, I hope it's nothing that big." Said Adie. "Billie go tell the boys, I'm going to help Danelle pack."
"Oh, wait. Adie, I'm leaving too." Said Rai.
"Wait, why?" asked Adie.
"Well several weeks ago, I got kicked out of my house. So I'm going to stay at Danelle's."
"What? Wait, did you all know about this?" asked Adie directing the question at Danelle and Billie.
"Um, Yea. She told me when she found out." replied Billie
"Why didn't you ask her to stay with us?" asked Adie.
"No, Adie he did. But I turned the offer down, I don't just want to barge in on you guys like that, really I'll be fine."
"Wait, he asked you if you wanted to stay here?" asked Danelle.
"Yea." Replied Rai.
"Rai, why did you turn him down? Holy Shit! I would rather stay here, than at my house!" replied Danelle.
"Yea, no I want to stay with you." Rai said to Danelle.
"Well, okay, if you'd feel more comfortable there. I understand." Said Adie
The girls climbed the stairs and headed to their room. They started packing everything. About twenty minutes later, they had finished and dragged their bags downstairs.
"Ready to go?" asked Adie.
"Yep, we're ready." Replied Rai.
"Oh, by the way, I was thinking maybe we can take two cars. Like Adie can take me home while I warm my parents up before telling them about Rai moving in, and one for Billie can take Rai to her place and pick up the rest of her stuff." Said Danelle.
Rai shot a glance and Danelle. And said,
"No, it's fine. I can pick up some stuff later."
"No, that's a great idea Danelle. I think it'll work out better if we do that." Replied Adie. "Let me just call Lauren real quick to see if she can watch the boys while we are gone." Adie walked into the house and dialed Laurens number.
"Hey Rai!" said Danelle.
"Hey D! What did the doctor say about Billie?" asked Rai.
"He said he can leave early, but he has to rest for a couple more days." Replied Adie with a smile.
"All our stuff from the hotel is in our cars, we just came to get Billie." Said Mike.
"Okay, I'll meet you guys in the parking lot. I just need some fresh air real quick." Replied Rai.
"Do you want company?" asked Danelle.
"No, I'm fine. Thanks though."

"Is everything okay?" asked Billie.
"Um, well not exactly." Said Rai
Billie and Rai glared into each other's eyes. It was the first time since the incident at the hospital. Rai turned away.
"Well what's wrong?" Adie asked nervously.
"Well, I'm just going to say it. My parents left me a message on my phone telling me to come home as soon as I could. Something is wrong."
"Oh my god! Oh honey, I'm so sorry, I hope it's nothing that big." Said Adie. "Billie go tell the boys, I'm going to help Danelle pack."
"Oh, wait. Adie, I'm leaving too." Said Rai.
"Wait, why?" asked Adie.
"Well several weeks ago, I got kicked out of my house. So I'm going to stay at Danelle's."
"What? Wait, did you all know about this?" asked Adie directing the question at Danelle and Billie.
"Um, Yea. She told me when she found out." replied Billie
"Why didn't you ask her to stay with us?" asked Adie.
"No, Adie he did. But I turned the offer down, I don't just want to barge in on you guys like that, really I'll be fine."
"Wait, he asked you if you wanted to stay here?" asked Danelle.
"Yea." Replied Rai.
"Rai, why did you turn him down? Holy Shit! I would rather stay here, than at my house!" replied Danelle.
"Yea, no I want to stay with you." Rai said to Danelle.
"Well, okay, if you'd feel more comfortable there. I understand." Said Adie
The girls climbed the stairs and headed to their room. They started packing everything. About twenty minutes later, they had finished and dragged their bags downstairs.
"Ready to go?" asked Adie.
"Yep, we're ready." Replied Rai.
"Oh, by the way, I was thinking maybe we can take two cars. Like Adie can take me home while I warm my parents up before telling them about Rai moving in, and one for Billie can take Rai to her place and pick up the rest of her stuff." Said Danelle.
Rai shot a glance and Danelle. And said,
"No, it's fine. I can pick up some stuff later."
"No, that's a great idea Danelle. I think it'll work out better if we do that." Replied Adie. "Let me just call Lauren real quick to see if she can watch the boys while we are gone." Adie walked into the house and dialed Laurens number.
