It's Comedy And Tragedy, chapter 12
As they drove off, silence filled the car. Rai tugged at her sleeve to make sure the cut was completely covered. Rai looked out her window and spotted a cloud. She continued staring at the cloud till it started to form a shape in her mind. James. She shook her head and tried to push the thought away by thinking of something else. Danelle's house was only 20 minutes away from hers, so she knew if she wanted to say something to Billie, she would have to say it now. She tried to work up the courage, but failed. Her stomach filled with knots as she tried to form words. 'Fuck it' she thought.
"Why are you making such a god damn big deal out of this!" she yelled.
Billie was shocked that she brought up the courage to say this to his face.
"You're fucking married and have two kids. This was just a fling or whatever; I actually have no idea what the fuck this is." She continued. "I mean it's not like you're going to leave Adie and the kids for me. Hell, I wouldn't let you! This is complete bullshit! Why the fuck do you keep acting like you care so much about me and that you want you to be the only for me?"
Billie didn't answer.
"God dammit Billie, can you answer my fucking question!" screamed Rai.
"I don't know." Said Billie in a whisper. "I like you Rai, a whole fucking lot! And things with Adie haven't been too well either."
"Well you guys sounded okay last night."
"What?"
"I heard you, 'Hurry back, I'm not finished with you yet." Said Rai in a mockingly voice.
"Hey! That's not fair now."
"What?! How is that not fair? Why are you lying to me, telling me that you and Adie aren't doing to well, when I know that you both are doing perfectly fine!"
"How the hell do you know that?"
"Billie, you both haven't argued in the time that I spent their, so how are
you two not doing fine?"
"Just because we don't argue doesn't mean that everything is fine!" yelled Billie.
"Then how is it not fine?" asked Rai, lowering her voice.
"I... .I... .I don't love her as much as I used to."
Silence fell over them once more. Rai continued staring out the window, she could feel Billie's eyes roaming her. She didn't move her head.
"Okay, look, I'm sorry." Said Billie.
"No, I'm the one that should be sorry. You know what? We're both guilty. Let's just act like none of this ever happened?"
"Sounds good to me." Said Billie
Billie and Rai made eye contact and smiled to each other.
"Okay, lets listen to some music." Said Rai, leaning over and turning on the radio.
