It's Comedy And Tragedy, chapter 16
"Rai?"
"OMG! How the hell have you been?"
Billie and Rai came together and shared a hug.
"I've been fine, how about you?"
"I've been okay." replied Rai.
A silence fell over them. Billie turned his head back to Adie's grave. Rai noticed him and did the same. As Rai was reading the tombstone, Billie peeled his eyes from the grave and turned up to Rai. She was beautiful. She seemed so different but the same at the same time. Rai felt his eyes on her, she turned up. He noticed her eyes weren't a bright shade of green as they always were, but they took on a dark shade. He also noticed that her eyes were red, she had been crying. Something was wrong, and he knew it. He looked down towards her hand and noticed she was carrying a backpack.
"Are you going out of town?" asked Billie
"Um, I'm not sure yet."
He saw the pain in her eyes and wanted to find out what was wrong.
"Rai, do you want to go get something to eat?"
"Yea. I'd love to." she replied with a half hearted smile.
Billie reached forward and grabbed her hand. As they were walking away, he noticed that he still had a rose in his hand that he had brought for Adie.
"One second."
Billie let go of Rai's hand and walked towards Adie's grave. He got down on one knee and set the rose on her grave.
"Good bye Adie, I love you." he whispered.
He kissed the palm of his hand and placed it on the grave. Billie got up and walked back to Rai. He grabbed her hand once more and they continued on to his car. They got in the car and drove off looking for a nearby diner. They didnt talk much in the car. Rai was still overwhelmed of the occurances in her life. She was pregnant, James left her, and if everything wasnt ironic enough, Billie came back into her life. She felt as if everything was moving to fast, she just reunited with Billie after five years, and she felt all her feelings come back to her. She still loved him, but she was certain he didnt feel the same about her. Billie found a nearby cafe` and decided that'll do. He pulled in the parking lot and parked the car. They both walked towards the cafe`. Billie reached forward and opened the door for Rai. When they found a table by the window they sat on opposite sides from eachother. A waitress had come up to them and took their orders. When they were left alone, Billie broke the silence.
"So how is Danelle? Do you still live with her?"
"Oh yea, she's great. And no, I don't live with her anymore."
"Glad she's okay." replied Billie lamely.
"So how are Mike and Tre?"
"Oh they're great also."
"Good."
The waitress came back with their food and set it in front of them. Rai was picking at her food, she wasnt really hungry, but she knew she should eat the meal for the baby.
"So have you talked to James lately?" asked Billie, he was longing to ask her this, but didnt think there would be an appropriate time to ask. So he just gave up and decided to just ask her.
"Um... Yes." replied Rai, shocked at the question.
She felt tears starting to form in her eyes and quickly lowered head to try and hide them. Billie was not easy to fool, and she knew this. Billie saw her and mentally kicked himself for asking such a straightforward question.
"I'm sorry for upsetting you." he said.
"No, it's fine."
She quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and tried to brush off the subject.
"So how are Jakob and Joey?"
He sensed her desperation for a subject change and decided to let it go, even though it was killing him to see her hurting like this without him knowing the reason behind it.
"They're okay. They're still trying to recover from Adie's passing."
Rai didnt know what to say, so she just nodded her head and took a swig of her water. They finished their meals, the waitress came to pick up their plates and asked them if they wanted some wine.
"Uh yea, sure. Rai do you want some?"
Rai's automatic answer would be yes, but she couldn't. She just nodded her head.
"Oh well than nevermind, thank you anyways." replied Billie to the waitress.
The waitress just nodded and placed the bill on the table.
"Do you want to leave?" asked Billie
"Uh, yea. Do you mind?"
"No, not at all."
Billie threw the money on the table and grabbed his jacket. They headed towards the door then reached the parking lot. They reached Billie's BMW and got in.
"So, am I taking you to Danelle's house?" questioned Billie as they drove off
The thought had not occured to her, she didnt have anywhere to go. She quickly tried to think of somewhere she could go. Suddenly out of nowhere, Rai felt tears starting to fall down her cheeks uncontrollably. She tried her hardest to wipe them away without being noticed, but she just gave in. Billie turned to her and saw her crying. He pulled the car over to the side. He then pulled her into a hug, she sobbed uncontrollably into his shirt. He leaned his head down and gave her a kiss on the head.
"Rai, tell me what happened. What's wrong?"
Rai tried her hardest to straighten up, she swallowed another lump that was coming,
"Billie, I'm pregnant with James' kid." She lowered her head, "He kicked me out of his house this morning."
Billie's jaw dropped. He didnt know what to say. 'What an ass hole! ' He thought to himself. He kissed her head again, and tightend their hug.
"I'm sorry," he said. "You can stay at my place, if you want to."
The offer sounded tempting, but she knew if she were to take it, she'd regret it. They finally reunited after five years, and their friendship seemed to be going fine so far, she didnt want to ruin it.
"Thanks for the offer Billie, but I think i'm just going to stay at a hotel or something."
"Are you sure? That sounds pretty ridiculous for you to stay at a hotel when I have plenty of room at my place."
"Yea, I'm sure. But thanks anyways."
Billie lifted her head up with his finger and wiped her tears with his thumb.
"Do you think we can go to the park, just for a little bit." asked Rai.
"Sure."
Billie let go of Rai and turned on the ignition. They drove off and reached the nearby park. They got out of his car, Rai saw a huge tree. She walked over and sat under it, resting her head against the trunk. Billie followed her and did the same. Silence fell upon them. Neither Billie nor Rai minded it. Rai just sat there trying to collect her thoughts.
Her thoughts were distracted when she felt a hand rest on top of hers. She was slightly startled and looked down. Billie squeezed her hand. She looked up and without warning, Billie leaned in and gently placed a kiss on her lips. It took her a second to realize what happened, but when her senses finally kicked in, she kissed him back. A minute passed by as the two sat under the tree in liplock, she felt his tongue exploring her mouth. She pulled back abruptly.
"Billie, we're going to fast."
He placed his finger up to her lips and shushed her. He then leaned in again, this time she just couldn't resist. They began kissing passionately.
"OMG! How the hell have you been?"
